Japan, Coastal Escapes and Family Road Trips Lead Plantrip’s Latest Travel Plans

Published August 18, 2026

Japan is emerging as a clear favorite among the 142 itineraries created on Plantrip.io in the past 24 hours, with travelers mapping everything from a week in Tokyo to detailed multi-city journeys through Nagano, Kyoto and Osaka. Food, shopping and hands-on cultural stops are central to the plans, while families are also building public-transport itineraries around Fukuoka, Yanagawa and Dazaifu.

Several Japan-bound travelers are planning ambitious winter routes. One December itinerary links Tokyo Disneyland, Mount Fuji viewpoints, Snow Monkey Park, Nagano skiing, Toyama, Kanazawa and Osaka, with luggage storage built into the route. Another family itinerary arriving in Tokyo and departing Osaka prioritizes Kamakura, Yokohama, Kyoto’s Arashiyama district, thrifting and Muslim-friendly dining.

Coastal destinations are also drawing strong interest. Croatia appears repeatedly, including late-August stays on Ugljan near Zadar and a Rab–Zadar–Split route, while Newfoundland features in both five- and six-day plans focused on hiking, boat tours and changeable Atlantic weather. Travelers are also plotting New England coastal drives through Ogunquit, Kennebunkport, Lubec, Campobello Island and the Bay of Fundy.

Family travel remains a major theme in the latest planning activity. Requests include a seven-day Newquay break, a Kodaikanal stay with a six-year-old, a Sikkim and Darjeeling trip for two couples and a young child, and a scenic Michigan road trip built around wineries, artisan shops, water tours and easy walks. Travelers are frequently specifying budgets, transport preferences and accommodation styles rather than simply naming destinations.

Elsewhere, the day’s itineraries stretch from Iceland’s Golden Circle and south-coast waterfalls to Cape Town, Greece, Vietnam, Thailand, Uttarakhand and the Seychelles. The common thread is highly tailored planning: travelers are pairing headline sights with practical details such as vegetarian meals in Yellowstone, public transport in Fukuoka, camping stops in California and Minnesota, and airport-timed sightseeing in Chennai.
