Family Road Trips to the Canadian Rockies Lead Plantrip’s Travel Plans

Published August 22, 2026

Family adventure is setting the pace on Plantrip.io, where 115 itineraries were created in the past 24 hours and road-trip planners showed a clear appetite for big landscapes, hiking trails and memorable stops. The Canadian Rockies stood out, with several families mapping two-week journeys from Manheim, Pennsylvania, to Banff National Park, often travelling with teenagers and seeking scenic hikes, activities and independent food finds beyond the usual tourist circuit.

Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise, Jasper and Calgary appeared repeatedly in Rockies-focused plans, while travelers also looked for practical routes that avoid destinations they have already visited, including Cuyahoga Valley, Niagara Falls, Acadia and Great Smoky Mountains. The requests point to an appetite for flexible, driveable national-park holidays built around lakes, viewpoints and family-friendly adventure.

Elsewhere in North America, travelers were planning a seven-day West Virginia national park escape with teenagers, a November hiking break in Sedona with a Grand Canyon day trip, and a Denver-to-Seattle drive incorporating Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier and Crater Lake. Fall routes also featured prominently, including Burlington-to-Portland, Maine foliage drives and a Black Forest itinerary from Strasbourg with hiking, castles, vegetarian dining and a Baden-Baden spa visit.

International planners were equally focused on detailed, experience-led trips. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur drew extensive multi-generational family plans centered on public transport, Indian food, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa and Genting Highlands. Porto itineraries combined landmark sightseeing with Douro cruises, port-cellar tastings and francesinha, while Goa remained a favorite for group getaways, including a four-to-five-day October bachelorette trip.

Across the day’s plans, travelers were not simply naming destinations—they were building trips around the people travelling with them. Teen-friendly hikes, budget food, rest breaks for mixed-age families, scenic roads and carefully chosen hidden gems shaped requests from Tasmania and the Canadian Rockies to Meghalaya, Ladakh and Slovenia’s Julian Alps.
