5-Day Itinerary for Delhi, Agra and Jaipur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Delhi
    Indira Gandhi International Airport

    Upon arrival, we recommend visiting the Humayun's Tomb in the morning. It is one of the best-preserved Mughal monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterward, head to India Gate which is a war memorial and a popular picnic spot. In the evening, visit Akshardham Temple which is known for its stunning architecture and light and sound show.

  2. Day 2: Delhi to Agra

    Start your day early and head towards Agra to visit the iconic Taj Mahal. Spend your morning admiring the beauty of the mausoleum which was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. In the afternoon, visit the Agra Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty. In the evening, stroll around the local markets and enjoy some delicious street food.

  3. Day 3: Agra to Jaipur
    240 km (150 miles) from Agra

    Start your morning by visiting Fatehpur Sikri, which was once the capital of the Mughal Empire and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterward, head towards Jaipur, also known as the "Pink City." In the afternoon, visit the City Palace which is a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. In the evening, visit the Jantar Mantar, which is an astronomical observatory and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

  4. Day 4: Jaipur
    Intra-city travel

    Start your day by visiting the Amber Fort which is a stunning example of Rajput architecture. Afterward, visit the Hawa Mahal or "Palace of Winds" which is a five-story palace with intricate latticework. In the afternoon, visit the Jal Mahal which is a palace situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. In the evening, explore the local markets and try some authentic Rajasthani cuisine.

  5. Day 5: Jaipur to Delhi
    268 km (166 miles) from Jaipur

    Start your day by visiting the Birla Mandir which is a beautiful temple made of white marble. Afterward, head back to Delhi for some last-minute shopping and sightseeing. In the afternoon, visit the Qutub Minar which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the tallest brick minaret in the world. In the evening, visit the Lotus Temple which is a Bahai House of Worship and a popular tourist attraction.

Recommendations

If you have time, we recommend visiting the Chandni Chowk market in Delhi and trying some of the street food. You can also take a side trip to Ranthambore National Park to see tigers in their natural habitat. To maximize your fun, we suggest taking a hot air balloon ride over Jaipur to see the city from a different perspective. Finally, don't forget to carry sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
