Audio Tours and Location

This section covers Plantrip audio tours on the web (plantrip.io/audio) and the PlanTrip Audio Tours app for Android and iPhone.

What we collect. While a tour is running, from the moment you press Start until the tour ends or you exit, the tour uses your device's precise location to play each story when you arrive at a stop. During that time it also sends us a record of the route: latitude and longitude, GPS accuracy, speed, heading and the time of each reading, about every five seconds while you are moving, along with which stories played and when. We also receive basic usage events, such as a tour being started or a story being played, and any problem report you choose to send.

Location in the background. If you allow it, the app keeps using location while your screen is locked or another app is open, for as long as a tour is running, so stories still play on time. A notification is shown while this is happening. Location is not collected when no tour is running. You can choose "Only while the app is open" instead, or change the permission at any time in your phone's settings; the tour then works only while the app is on screen.

How we use it. We use location to play the right story at the right place, and we use route records to correct story timing and stop locations. Route records are stored under a random identifier for that drive. They are not linked to your name, email address or Plantrip account. We do not sell location data, share it with advertisers or use it for advertising.

Tesla connection (optional). If you connect a Tesla account, Plantrip stores the authorization needed to send tour destinations to your car's navigation and to read whether the car is online, along with the vehicle's name and identification number. The app keeps its link to that connection in your phone's secure storage. You can disconnect at any time, which removes the connection.

Keeping and deleting. We keep route records for as long as they are useful for improving tours. To have a drive deleted, email [email protected] with the date, approximate time and tour, and we will remove it. Downloaded tour audio and your tour progress stay on your device and are removed when you remove the tour or uninstall the app.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
