Arrive at NJP Railway Station around 08:00. Collect luggage and meet your pre-booked driver or find a prepaid taxi/SHARED jeep for the hill transfer. Expect road travel time to Darjeeling 3–4 hours depending on traffic and stops.
Check in at a budget guesthouse or homestay in Darjeeling (examples: Silver Oaks / Hotel Mohit / local homestays). They are cheap, clean and well located near Mall Road.
Guided walk around Happy Valley Tea Estate or a quick tea tasting — a calm introduction to Darjeeling’s tea culture. Visitor centre typically open 9:00–16:00; best in the afternoon when mist lifts.
From the second half of 6 Sep (arrival & evening) I calculate two budget scenarios below — I assume 2 people sharing a double room and using a private car for convenience. If you prefer, I can recalc for solo, group or bus travel.
Early pick-up to Tiger Hill for the sunrise over Kanchenjunga — prepare to leave ~04:00; best time 04:30–06:30. Very popular: pack a jacket; photography opportunity is the highlight.
Big, classic bakery with good breakfast options — eggs, toast, pastries and coffee. Opens from early morning (around 8–9am). Good for a scenic, filling start.
Drive ~2–2.5 hours to Mirik: Sumendu Lake boating, stroll around the lakeside and pine plantations. Pleasant, quieter hill station for a relaxing day. Drives 2–2.5h each way.
If you prefer not to drive, use this day for a slow hike (Tea Garden walks), visit small museums, or hire a short local walk guide. Good rest day before return.
Summary of estimated costs from the second half of 6 Sep through to return (assumptions listed). If you want an exact booking cost, tell me number of travellers and whether you want private car or local shared transport — I can refine and book options.
