Classic, busy breakfast spot with creative pancakes and skillets; good early start and opens early on weekdays (often ~6:30am). Call ahead for wait expectations in summer.
Short walk or Royal Arch approach for quintessential Flatirons views — trails and park are open sunrise–sunset and provide an iconic Boulder morning hike/viewpoint.
Stretch legs with a stroll along Lyons' historic Main Street and grab a coffee (local roaster or brewery taproom). Lyons has quirky local art, small shops, and riverfront views.
Continue northwest on US-36 through the Big Thompson Canyon — several roadside pullouts for river/rock formations and quick photos before reaching Estes Park.
Casual, hearty BBQ restaurant in downtown Estes with outdoor seating and quick service — great fuel before heading into the national park (opens around 11am).
Drive into RMNP (Beaver Meadows or Fall River entrance) for an easy, scenic hike: Bear Lake + Nymph/Dream/Emerald loop (~1.5–2h) for alpine lakes; if you don't have Bear Lake timed-entry, Sprague Lake or Moraine Park are excellent alternatives and very scenic.
Return to Estes Park for a quick photo outside the historic Stanley Hotel and a short walk through downtown shops and the Riverwalk; hotel tours run at set times if you want a paid tour (check current hours).
Head back the same scenic corridor (US-36 / Big Thompson Canyon toward Lyons, then toward Boulder and down to Golden). Leaving mid-afternoon avoids the heaviest late-afternoon RMNP traffic.
If you're back early, Table Mountain offers Southwestern/American dinner options and a quick turnaround; otherwise pick up something to-go so you're settled by 6pm. Many Golden spots open for dinner from ~4–5pm onward.
Finish the loop and be back in Golden by 6pm as requested; quick gear check and pack out any trash from stops. If you returned early, consider a short Golden historic walk or Coors exterior photo stop (brewery tours require separate reservations).
