Viewed by 85 travelers

Day 1: Nara & Uji Exploration

Morning

Take an early train from Kyoto to Nara, arriving around 9 am. Begin at Tōdaiji Temple to admire the massive Daibutsu (Great Buddha) and explore the surrounding temple grounds. Afterwards, stroll through Nara Park, where friendly deer roam freely and provide a charming welcome.

Afternoon

Head to Kasuga Taisha Shrine to admire its lantern-lined pathways and soak in the autumn colors. Grab a quick lunch of locally‑sourced Nara specialties, then board a train to Uji (≈30 min). In Uji, visit the iconic Byōdō-in Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and admire the Phoenix Hall against the crisp November sky.

Evening

Stroll along the scenic Uji River, stopping at a traditional tea house for a tasting of renowned Uji green tea. End the day with a leisurely walk back to the station, enjoying the golden foliage before catching an evening train back to Kyoto.
