Start with a quick, authentic Odia meal at Dalma (or a similar local restaurant) to fuel the afternoon; they typically serve Odia thalis and are open from late morning through dinner. This gives you local flavors and a fast sit-down before heading north to Nandankanan.
Nandankanan is Bhubaneswar’s large zoo and botanical park with enclosures, the white tiger exhibit and (seasonal) safaris — a good wildlife break. Note: the regular park typically closes around 5:00–5:30pm (confirm current seasonal hours) so plan a focused 2-hour visit or pre-book a night safari if you want longer stays.
Drive from Nandankanan back toward Bhubaneswar center and Hirapur (approx 30–45 minutes depending on traffic); use this transit time to reach the 64 Yogini site before sunset.
Small, atmospheric open-air shrine dedicated to the 64 Yoginis; it’s best visited in late afternoon light. The site is open during daylight hours (sunrise to sunset) so arrive well before dusk.
Ancient Jain and Buddhist rock-cut caves with reliefs and panoramic city views — historically open approximately 7:00am–5:00pm, so this visit is time-sensitive; move quickly to see the main caves and cliff-top viewpoints.
A stunning 10th-century shrine known for its elegant torana (arched gateway) and intricate stonework; generally open through the evening (often until ~8:00pm) and very enjoyable at dusk for photography and calm atmosphere.
Bhubaneswar’s largest and most famous temple, best experienced during the evening darshan period (temple typically reopens around 4:00pm for evening worship and stays open until about 9:00pm). Note temple entry policies and restricted access to non-Hindus can apply — check current rules; otherwise you can view and photograph from the permitted areas.
Relax with a multi-cuisine dinner at Mayfair Lagoon’s restaurant or another well-rated city-center option; a good way to reflect on the day and enjoy more Odisha specialties or continental choices. Most good restaurants are open until late evening.
Head back to your hotel to rest or, if you pre-booked, prepare for a Nandankanan night safari (if available) — note night safaris need advance booking and are separate from daytime entry.
