Final group meet-up and checklist: carry thermal layers, waterproof jacket, woolen caps, gloves, spare batteries/powerbank, personal medicines and ID; keep printed flight tickets and hotel confirmations. This avoids last-minute scrambling at airports.
Fly early from Hyderabad; if direct Bhuntar flights are available (via Delhi) you reach Manali fastest; otherwise fly to Chandigarh/Delhi and take a private taxi or tempo traveller to Manali (6–9hr drive). Booking: prefer Bhuntar for shortest road transfer (40–60 mins).
Check in to your chosen group stay (recommendations below). Rest, change into warm clothes and acclimatize — Manali is ~2,050m so light altitude effects possible. Evening rest reduces fatigue for night activities.
Stroll Mall Road for shops, local cafes, woollens and souvenirs; Old Manali has lively cafes and bars perfect for young groups. Great place to buy gloves, thermals or woolens if you missed packing.
Cafe 1947 (river-side) and Johnson's Cafe are iconic for ambience and food — reserve a table; both serve continental and Indian dishes and remain open late during peak season.
If you booked a private cottage or a hotel with a New Year package, enjoy a small bonfire/party; ensure permission for bonfires and follow local fire rules.
Short 25–40 minute drive north to Solang (watch for icy roads). Solang is the main spot for snow activities in winter; check road/weather before leaving (4x4s sometimes needed).
Ropeway (paragliding launch/observation), snowmobiling, skiing and tubing available; ropeway typically operates 9:00am–5:00pm (weather permitting). Book activities onsite or via local operators — safety gear provided.
Return to Vashisht for hot sulphur springs and a short temple visit; springs are usually accessible 8:00am–8:00pm and are perfect after a cold morning.
Drive ~40–60 mins to Kullu for handloom shopping (woollens, shawls), then continue to Naggar Castle and Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery (great views and history). Naggar Castle open ~9:30am–5:00pm.
Head back to Manali, rest and prepare for New Year's evening — collect warm clothes and confirm your NYE plan (hotel party, private cottage bonfire, or club).
Options: join a hotel/club New Year’s event (many hotels host DJs and dinner buffets) or host a private bonfire & catered dinner at a rented cottage. Book tickets early (fees vary).
Celebrate midnight with your group; follow local regulations on fireworks, and keep noise respectful — a private cottage bonfire is often the safest and most fun option for groups.
Return flight to Hyderabad; if you arrive into Delhi first, ensure your onward connection is confirmed. Expect travel time including transfers 4–10 hours depending on routing.
