5-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary for Goa in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Baga Beach
    1 hour 10 minutes (20 miles) from Dabolim Airport

    Start your trip by enjoying the beautiful Baga Beach. In the morning, you can take a dip in the sea or simply relax on the beach. For lunch, try some local street food and then take a walk to the nearby Saturday Night Market for some shopping. In the evening, head to Club Cubana, a popular nightclub in the area.

  2. Day 2: Fort Aguada
    25 minutes (6.5 miles) from Baga Beach

    Fort Aguada is a must-visit for history buffs. Spend the morning exploring the fort and learning about its history. For lunch, head to Souza Lobo, a famous seafood restaurant in Calangute. In the afternoon, head to Candolim Beach for some water sports and end your day with a sunset view and some cocktails at the beach shacks.

  3. Day 3: Dudhsagar Falls
    2 hours 20 minutes (47 miles) from Fort Aguada

    Take a day trip to the breathtaking Dudhsagar Falls. Start off early in the morning as the trek to the waterfall takes a few hours. You can swim in the natural pool and have a picnic lunch while enjoying the beautiful view. In the evening, head back to your hotel to rest.

  4. Day 4: Anjuna Flea Market
    30 minutes (7.5 miles) from Dudhsagar Falls

    Spend the morning at Anjuna Flea Market, which opens only on Wednesdays. This market offers everything from clothes to handicrafts. For lunch, try some of the local Goan delicacies at German Bakery. In the afternoon, head to Vagator Beach for some sun and sand. For dinner, try out one of the many beach shacks in the area.

  5. Day 5: Chapora Fort
    15 minutes (3 miles) from Anjuna Flea Market

    End your trip with a visit to the Chapora Fort, a popular spot for tourists to catch the sunset. Spend the morning exploring the fort and taking in the view. For lunch, head to Gunpowder Restaurant and try some of their famous dishes. In the evening, head to Curlies Beach Shack in Anjuna for some live music and drinks.

If you have an extra day, you can visit the famous Basilica of Bom Jesus and the Museum of Christian Art in Old Goa. You can also consider taking a day trip to the spice plantations in Ponda or the beautiful Palolem Beach in South Goa. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, such as vindaloo, fish curry, and bebinca. Lastly, consider renting a bike to explore the local areas and maximize your experience.
