Three-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Delhi Trip from Bengaluru via Flight

  1. Day 1: Indira Gandhi International Airport to Qutub Minar
    20 minutes (7.7 miles) from Indira Gandhi International Airport

    In the morning, visit Qutub Minar which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the tallest minaret in India. With its beautiful carvings and architecture, it is a perfect place for a family photo. In the afternoon, visit the Lotus Temple which is known for its unique lotus flower shape and is open to people of all religions for prayer and meditation. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll around the Delhi Haat market which offers a variety of handicrafts, food and cultural shows.

  2. Day 2: Red Fort to Humayun's Tomb
    30 minutes (6.8 miles) from Red Fort

    In the morning, visit the Red Fort which was the residence of the Mughal Emperors for more than 200 years. It is a magnificent red sandstone structure that showcases the Indian architectural style. In the afternoon, visit India Gate which is a war memorial dedicated to the Indian soldiers who died in World War I. In the evening, visit Humayun's Tomb which is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun and is known for its beautiful gardens and architecture.

  3. Day 3: Akshardham Temple to Jama Masjid
    35 minutes (10.9 miles) from Akshardham Temple

    In the morning, visit the Akshardham Temple which is a Hindu temple known for its beautiful carvings and exhibitions. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum which showcases the rich cultural heritage of India. In the evening, visit Jama Masjid which is one of the largest mosques in India and is known for its beautiful architecture and the view from its minaret.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can also visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residence of the President of India, and the Parliament House. For side trips, you can visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal or Jaipur to see the Hawa Mahal and Amer Fort. To maximize your fun, try some of the local street food like chaat, parathas and kebabs. You can also take a rickshaw ride in Old Delhi to experience the bustling streets and markets. Lastly, make sure to pack comfortable shoes and clothing as Delhi can be quite hot in June.
