One Day City Experience Itinerary in Ujjain in July 2023

  1. 9:00AM: Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga

    Start your day with a visit to one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Mahakaleshwar. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be one of the most powerful and sacred places in India.     After visiting Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, head to Kal Bhairav Temple, which is dedicated to one of the fiercest forms of Lord Shiva.     Next, visit Ram Ghat, situated on the banks of the Shipra River. This is one of the most famous ghats in Ujjain and is believed to be the place where Lord Rama performed the tarpan ritual for his ancestors. You can take a boat ride on the river and enjoy the scenic beauty of the ghat.

  4. 3:00PM: Sandipani Ashram
    20 minutes (8.7 km) from Ram Ghat

    After lunch, visit Sandipani Ashram, which is located on the outskirts of Ujjain. This ashram is famous for being the place where Lord Krishna and Sudama received their education from Guru Sandipani. You can see the various classrooms, the Yagyashala, and the ancient scriptures kept in the ashram.

  5. 5:00PM: Kaliadeh Palace
    10 minutes (3.4 km) from Sandipani Ashram

    End your day with a visit to the Kaliadeh Palace, situated on the banks of the Shipra River. It is believed that this is the place where Lord Krishna took his last bath before leaving the mortal world. The palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens and fountains and offers a breathtaking view of the river.

While in Ujjain, you can also visit other famous temples like Harsiddhi Temple and Chintaman Ganesh Temple. If you have time, take a side trip to the nearby city of Indore, which is known for its street food and shopping.
