Pick up a pre-booked car or taxi at BLR and drive to Mysore (approx 3–3.5 hours). This is faster and more flexible than a long train/road leg from Pune.
The grand royal palace and a showcase of Indo-Saracenic architecture; visit the durbar hall and galleries (Palace open ~10:00am–5:30pm; evening illumination 7:00–7:30pm on Sundays/holidays).
Relax in the terraced gardens and stay for the musical/fountain light show (gardens open early morning to ~9:00pm; fountain timings usually around 6:30–7:30pm — confirm locally).
Interact with elephants — bathing, feeding and short rides are available in morning sessions (best 8:00am–11:00am); check and prebook the camp timings.
Visit the source of the River Cauvery and the nearby confluence temple; a cultural and scenic drive — allow time for road travel (sites open in daytime).
If you want the toy train experience, check the Nilgiri Mountain Railway schedule and book in advance — trains have limited seats and timings vary; otherwise drive to Coonoor and visit Sim's Park (~1–2h).
Allow ~3–3.5 hours for the drive to Coimbatore airport depending on traffic; leave with margin for connecting flights (Ooty → Coimbatore ~85 km but winding roads).
