7-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Rishikesh, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Rishikesh
    20 minutes (6.5 miles) from Haridwar

    Start your day with a visit to the Triveni Ghat where you can witness the morning aarti. Afterward, head to the Beatles Ashram to explore the graffiti art and the meditation chambers. In the afternoon, visit the Rajaji National Park and enjoy a wildlife safari. End your day with a walk on the Laxman Jhula Bridge to witness the evening aarti.

  2. Day 2: Kedarnath
    7 hours (138 miles) from Rishikesh

    Start your day early and make your way to Kedarnath. Visit the Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Take a pony ride to Vasuki Tal for a scenic view of the lake. End your day with a visit to Shankaracharya Samadhi and Bhairon Temple.

  3. Day 3: Badrinath
    5 hours (102 miles) from Kedarnath

    Start your day with a visit to the Badrinath Temple, another Char Dham pilgrimage site. Afterward, take a dip in the Tapt Kund hot springs to refresh yourself. In the afternoon, visit the Mana Village, which is the last Indian village before the Indo-Tibetan border. End your day with a visit to the Bheem Pul, which is a natural rock bridge.

  4. Day 4: Gangotri
    6 hours (160 miles) from Badrinath

    Start your day with a visit to the Gangotri Temple, which is one of the four pilgrimage sites of the Char Dham Yatra. Afterward, visit the Bhagirathi Shila, which is believed to be the rock where King Bhagirath meditated to bring the River Ganges to earth. In the afternoon, take a dip in the holy Ganges River. End your day with a visit to the Ganges Glacier.

  5. Day 5: Yamunotri
    3 hours (95 miles) from Gangotri

    Start your day with a visit to the Yamunotri Temple, which is another one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Afterward, take a dip in the hot springs of Yamunotri. In the afternoon, visit the Surya Kund, which is a thermal spring where prasad is cooked. End your day with a visit to the Divya Shila, which is a rock pillar worshipped by the pilgrims.

  6. Day 6: Rishikesh
    10 hours (285 miles) from Yamunotri

    Start your day early and make your way back to Rishikesh. Spend your day exploring the local markets and trying out the street food. In the evening, attend a yoga class to relax and rejuvenate.

  7. Day 7: Departure
    20 minutes (6.5 miles) from Dehradun

    Check out of your hotel and make your way to the Dehradun Airport for your flight back home.

You may also consider visiting the Neer Garh Waterfall or the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple in Rishikesh. For a side trip, you can visit the Valley of Flowers National Park or the Hemkund Sahib.
