Cerro Bayo is a well-known skiing destination among locals and foreigners. In the summer, the chairlift is usable for a panoramic ride. At the peak, visitors will have a breathtaking view of Nahuel Huapi Lake and the surrounding mountains. There are also various hiking trails that offer different levels of difficulty.
The park offers many activities for tourists like hiking, kayaking, sailing, and fishing. There is a great diversity of flora and fauna that visitors can discover by walking the trails. In the ssummer, visitors can enjoy a picnic on the shore of the lake.
Mount Tronador is one of the highest peaks in Patagonia that can be accessed by car. Visitors can hike trails, cross glaciers, waterfalls, and small streams. The area has several campsites suitable for overnight stays, and trout fishing is permissible in some rivers and lagoons, making Mount Tronador another nature lover’s paradise.
The hike to the Ventisquero Negro Glacier features ice climbing, and visitors need to cross the Manso River. Guides are available for hire, and visitors must note that hiking in adverse weather conditions might result in tour cancellations. The glacier’s dark color is a result of volcanic ash fallout.
Located just a few kilometers outside of Bariloche, Lago Gutierrez is perfect for water sport activities like windsurfing, kite-surfing, and kayaking. There are camping areas around the lake, and it is a good place for a picnic day trip.
Public transportation (bus) is available for most destinations, but it is best to rent a car to explore freely. Fuel costs range from 2 to 2.5 USD per liter. Prices can be negotiated if renting for an entire week. Parking is not an issue in most areas as long as visitors respect parking rules and regulations.
If you have extra time, we suggest you visit the nearby towns of Villa La Angostura and San Martin de los Andes. Both have many activities to offer.
The Bariloche Airport (BRC), also known as the Teniente Luis Candelaria Airport, is about 14 km from the city center. The airport is mostly served by Aerolineas Argentinas and LATAM Airlines. Airport transfers and taxi services can be arranged upon arrival at the airport.
