3-Day Itinerary for Pondicherry in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Promenade Beach
    10 minutes (2.5km) from Pondicherry Railway Station

    Morning: The sunrise at the Promenade Beach is a sight to behold. Enjoy a peaceful walk along the beach and take in the stunning views. You could also visit Mahatma Gandhi Statue and the French War Memorial.

    Evening: Head to the Botanical Garden to relax amidst lush greenery and colourful flowers. You can also visit Bharathi Park nearby to enjoy the musical fountain show.

  2. Day 2: Auroville
    30 minutes (11km) from Promenade Beach

    Morning: Visit Auroville, an experimental township that is dedicated to promoting sustainable living and spiritual growth. Take a tour of the Matri Mandir, an architectural masterpiece that symbolizes the unity of all religions.

    Afternoon: Explore the various sustainable projects and initiatives at Auroville. You could also visit the Auroville Bakery to indulge in some delicious organic bread and pastries.

    Evening: Head back to Pondicherry and visit the Manakula Vinayagar Temple, a popular Hindu temple that is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Witness the evening aarti and seek blessings for a prosperous journey ahead.

  3. Day 3: Paradise Beach
    20 minutes (8km) from Manakula Vinayagar Temple

    Morning: Visit Paradise Beach, a secluded haven that is accessible only by boat. Take a boat ride across the Chunnambar River and enjoy the pristine beauty of the beach.

    Afternoon: Spend the afternoon sunbathing, swimming or playing beach volleyball. You could also indulge in some water sports such as kayaking, jet skiing, and banana boat rides.

    Evening: Head back to Pondicherry and visit the Aurobindo Ashram, a spiritual community that was founded by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. Take a guided tour of the ashram and meditate in the serene atmosphere.

If you have time, you could also visit the Gingee Fort, a majestic fort that is located about 70 km from Pondicherry.
