Meet & greet at Chandigarh station/arrival point; confirm driver and luggage, brief travel plan and estimated tea/food stops en route. This is your handover point before the road transfer to Manali.
Drive north to Manali (approx 8–9 hrs depending on traffic and stops). Expect one or two tea/dinner stops on the way; roads are scenic but winding, so allow comfortable time.
Check into your Manali hotel and have a late dinner at the hotel restaurant or a nearby dhaba. Try a local Himachali option (rajma-chawal or steamed trout where available) to warm up after the drive.
Hearty breakfast at the hotel or at Old Manali (e.g., Johnson's Café / small local cafés) to fuel a chilly day; many cafés open from 8:00–9:00am. Warm drinks and parathas are recommended for cold December mornings.
Short drive (approx 20–40 mins, ~14 km) up the valley to Solang for snow/aventure activities depending on conditions; roads are open normally but always check with the hotel for local updates.
Try paragliding, ATV rides or zipline; skiing is seasonal (winter snow) and availability depends on snowfall. Operators usually work from ~9:00am–4:00pm, but weather can close activities — confirm on the spot.
Grab lunch at a Solang cafeteria or a roadside eatery — momos, thukpa and simple Indian meals are common and warming. If you prefer, pack a lunch to save time while heading onward.
Drive toward the Atal Tunnel (tunnel operates normally 24/7), which gives access into Lahaul; note: while the tunnel is open year-round, short-term closures for maintenance or weather are possible — check road status before departure.
Quick stop at the Atal Tunnel viewing area (no major entry fee) and continue to Sissu in Lahaul for waterfalls and snow vistas. Sissu’s roadside falls and landscape are great for photos; access depends on weather and road clearance.
Stroll Mall Road for shopping, cafés and street food (shops typically open 10:00am–10:00pm). Dine at Café 1947 / The Lazy Dog or your hotel — try hot momos, thukpa or continental comfort food for the evening.
Drive to Kullu (approx 1–1.5 hrs). River rafting on the Beas is an option but is seasonal — main rafting season is May–Oct; in December operators may not run due to low water and cold, so confirm availability in advance.
If available and you’re geared for cold-weather rafting, operators typically run 9:00am–4:00pm; otherwise skip for more time in Kasol. Rafting involves safety briefing and wet-suits (seasonal availability).
Continue into Parvati Valley to Kasol — the village is known for its riverside cafés, chilled vibe and Israeli-influenced food. Walk along the Parvati river and browse cafés.
Enjoy lunch at a popular Kasol café (Israeli dishes, hummus, fresh bakery items or local dal-chawal). These cafés generally open by 10:00am and serve until evening.
Drive to Manikaran (short from Kasol) to visit the Gurudwara known for hot springs and free langar (community meal). The gurudwara is open all day and the langar is available to all visitors.
Explore Naggar Castle (historical manor with views over the Kullu Valley). The castle/museum is generally open 9:00am–6:00pm and gives a feel of local architecture and history.
Visit the Roerich Art Gallery (open approx 9:30am–5:00pm; closed on some weekdays — usually closed on Mondays, so confirm). It houses Nicholas Roerich’s paintings and Himalayan artifacts.
Short walk to Jana waterfall area and enjoy a local Himachali lunch at a village dhaba — great chance to try siddu, rajma-chawal and seasonal local fare.
Stroll the apple orchards and lanes around Naggar (seasonal fruiting but lovely views year-round). Good for photography and calm village life observation.
Book a spa or Ayurvedic massage to soothe muscles after days of driving and walking; many spas operate till ~8:00pm. Advance booking recommended for peak winter season.
Evening café hopping in Old Manali — try Café 1947, Drifters Café or local bakeries for relaxed dinner and desserts. Cafés generally operate 9:00am–11:00pm but winter hours may vary.
Short Mall Road stroll for souvenirs, woollens and photos. Shops commonly open by 10:00am; use this time for quick buys and pictures by the Beas River.
Begin the return drive to Chandigarh (approx 8–9 hours depending on road and weather). If heading to Delhi, allow approx 11–13 hours; leave early if you have a set onward train/flight.
Arrive Chandigarh, drop at station/airport or agreed onward point. If needed, stop for dinner before final boarding — Chandigarh has ample dining options near the station.
