2-Day Itinerary for Shimoga in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Jog Falls
    30 minutes (20 miles) from Shimoga

    Start your day off early at Jog Falls, the second-highest plunge waterfall in India. Take in the beautiful views and snap some photos of the surroundings. You can also take a boat ride beneath the waterfall to get an up-close look. Afternoon, visit the nearby Linganamakki Dam, a great spot for picnics and relaxing. In the evening, head to the ancient Gajanur Dam, located on the banks of Tunga river, where you can watch the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Sakrebailu Elephant Camp
    45 minutes (15 miles) from Shimoga

    Start your day at Sakrebailu Elephant Camp, where you can interact with elephants and even feed them. Enjoy watching them bathe and walk around with their mahouts. In the afternoon, visit the Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari, located in a serene forest. You can also take a toy train ride for a different view of the forest. In the evening, head to the Shimoga Aquarium, where you can see a variety of fishes and an amazing collection of freshwater fish.

Don't miss out on visiting the beautiful Koodli Temple and the historic Shivappa Nayaka Palace. You can also take a day trip to Agumbe, a scenic village that is home to many waterfalls, trekking trails, and a rainforest research station. Additionally, consider visiting the Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary which is home to a variety of bird species. To maximize your fun, include a guided jungle safari at the Sharavathi Adventure Camp.
