Two-day Itinerary for Kanchipuram in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kamakshi Amman Temple
    Located in the heart of Kanchipuram (0.6km, 5 minutes from the nearest hotel)

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Kamakshi Amman Temple. It is one of the three holy places of Sakthi worship in India and is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. The temple is known for its magnificent architecture and intricate carvings. Spend some time admiring the beauty of the temple and take blessings from the goddess.
    Afternoon: Head to the Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is famous for its Dravidian style of architecture. The walls of the temple are adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures.
    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Ekambareswarar Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the largest temples in Kanchipuram. It is also known for its 3500-year-old mango tree, which is believed to be one of the oldest trees in India.

  2. Day 2: Varadharaja Perumal Temple
    Located in the outskirts of Kanchipuram (5km, 20 minutes from the nearest hotel)

    Morning: Visit the Varadharaja Perumal Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is famous for its 100-pillar mandapam and the Ananda Nilayam Vimanam.
    Afternoon: Head to the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, which is the abode of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. This mutt is a famous spiritual center and is known for its Veda Patashala, where students learn the Vedas.
    Evening: End your trip with a visit to the Ulagalantha Perumal Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is famous for its 35-feet tall idol of Lord Vishnu in a reclining position.
