Fly Delhi–Kullu (Bhuntar). Flight time is ~45–60 minutes; expect airport transfer 45–90 minutes to Manali town (approx 50 km). This saves many hours of road travel and fatigue before your bike days.
INR6000-12000 (round-trip average per person; varies by booking time and season), 3h0m
Take an overnight/early train to Chandigarh or Ambala then a Volvo bus or private taxi (Chandigarh–Manali ~8–10 hours by road, ~310 km). More economical but adds travel time and reduces riding days.
INR2200-3500 (round-trip train+bus typical per person), 12h0m
Arrive in Manali, check into chosen hotel (see hotel recommendations below) and collect rented bike. Inspect the bike thoroughly (brakes, tires, lights) and carry copies of permit/ID.
INR0 (hotel and bike costs listed in later totals), 1h0m
Wooden Hadimba Temple (open 6:00am–6:00pm) and nearby Manu Temple give a calm cultural start and quick photo stops in the cedar forest above Old Manali.
Ride back via Gulaba — a scenic open area and starting point for Bhrigu Lake trek (if you plan that next day). Good to scope lighter off-road sections.
Rohtang Pass is seasonal (usually open May–Nov depending on snow/clearance). Reach early (passes often allow entry ~6:00am–4:00pm) to avoid queues; permits are required — check the HPPWD/LoC portal before travel.
Longer ride (~75–80 km one-way). This is scenic but will be a long day — choose only if you have an extra day or start very early. Manikaran Gurudwara open 24 hours; Kasol is popular for cafés and riverside walks.
INR0 (fuel extra INR1000-1500 for round trip), 4h0m
