Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati → Shillong

Morning: Not applicable – you will be traveling.

Afternoon: Arrive at Guwahati Railway Station at 3 PM, then take a shared AC taxi or state transport bus to Shillong (≈3 hrs, ₹300). Check‑in to a budget guesthouse (₹800/night).

Evening: Stroll around Police Bazaar, enjoy local snacks, and rest for the next day’s trek.

Day 2: Shillong → Cherrapunjee (Sohra)

Morning: After breakfast, hire a shared jeep to Cherrapunjee (≈2 hrs, ₹250). Visit the famous Double Decker Root Bridge at Mawlynnong (short hike, 1 hr).

Afternoon: Explore the majestic Phephe Water Falls and the refreshing Wei Sawdqng Falls, each requiring about 45 minutes of walking.

Evening: Check into a basic homestay in Cherrapunjee (₹900/night) and enjoy a traditional Khasi dinner.

Day 3: Cherrapunjee → Dowki River (Night Camping)

Morning: Visit Warm Chora (a natural hot spring) for a relaxing soak (≈1 hr).

Afternoon: Head to Nohkhalikai Falls for a short trek and photo‑ops (≈1 hr). Return to Cherrapunjee and pack camping gear.

Evening: Travel to the banks of the Dowki River (≈1 hr by shared taxi, ₹150) and set up a modest campsite (₹300 for firewood and basic amenities). Enjoy night camping under the stars.

Day 4: Dowki River → Mawlynnong → Shillong

Morning: After a sunrise by the river, break camp and drive to Mawlynnong (≈2 hrs, ₹250) to explore the “Cleanest Village of Asia” and its living root bridge.

Afternoon: Return to Shillong (≈2 hrs, ₹250). Use any remaining time to visit Umiam Lake for a quick lakeside walk.

Evening: Stay in the same budget guesthouse in Shillong (₹800) and prepare for the early departure.

Day 5: Shillong → Guwahati (Departure)

Morning: Early checkout and take a shared taxi back to Guwahati Railway Station (≈3 hrs, ₹300) to catch the 4 AM train.
