4-Day Itinerary for Badrinath, Hemkunt, Valley of Flowers in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Badrinath
    4 hours (114 km) from Dehradun

    In the morning, visit the Badrinath temple, one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Take a dip in the holy Tapt Kund and visit the nearby Narad Kund. Have lunch at a local restaurant and explore Mana Village, the last Indian village before the Indo-China border. In the evening, attend the Badrinath Aarti at the temple, a beautiful and spiritual experience.

  2. Day 2: Hemkunt Sahib
    2 hours (45 km) from Badrinath

    Start the day early and drive to Govindghat. From there, start the trek to Hemkunt Sahib, a Sikh shrine situated at an altitude of 4,632 meters. The trek is challenging but the views of the surrounding mountains and valleys are breathtaking. Have lunch at the Gurudwara and spend some time exploring the area. Return to Govindghat in the late afternoon and rest for the night.

  3. Day 3: Valley of Flowers
    1 hour (3.5 km) from Govindghat

    Drive to Govindghat and start the trek to Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and diverse fauna. The trek is easy to moderate and takes about 3-4 hours to reach the valley. Spend the day exploring the valley and taking in the beauty of the flowers and surrounding mountains. Return to Govindghat by late afternoon and rest for the night.

  4. Day 4: Departure
    9 hours (290 km) from Dehradun

    Check out of your hotel in Govindghat and drive back to Dehradun, where you can catch a flight or train back home. If time permits, stop at the Devprayag confluence, where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet to form the Ganges. Take in the scenic views and have lunch at a local restaurant along the river.

If you have extra time, consider visiting the nearby Auli ski resort for some adventure sports or taking a helicopter ride to Kedarnath and other nearby temples. You can also explore the nearby towns of Joshimath and Rudraprayag for some local cuisine and shopping. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry comfortable trekking shoes, warm clothes, and sunscreen. Lastly, make sure to acclimatize yourself to the altitude and drink plenty of fluids.
