Take a prepaid taxi or app cab to Ahmedabad Junction or the airport (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel) — shortest and most convenient way to catch the onward train/flight.
If you chose the budget route take an overnight train from Ahmedabad (board previous night) arriving at Vijayawada/Rajahmundry; if you chose flight, morning flights from Ahmedabad to Rajahmundry/Visakhapatnam are ~1.5 hrs — arrival gives you most of Day 1 in Kakinada. (I recommend booking earliest flight for time efficiency; trains are cheaper but take much longer.)
Take a prepaid taxi or state transport bus from the airport/station to Kakinada (approx 1–2 hours depending on arrival point). This gets you to your hotel and allows a midday start of sightseeing.
Check into a budget hotel/guesthouse in central Kakinada. For lunch try a local Andhra thali (rice, sambar, curries) at a nearby canteen or 'local mess' to taste authentic flavors — filling and economical.
Relax at Mudasarlova Reservoir and adjoining park — a popular green space for locals, good for an easy stroll and photos; typically open early morning to late evening.
Walk along Kakinada Beach, enjoy the sea breeze and sunset; the stretch near the town is lively in the evening and safe for solo travelers. Beaches are open public spaces (visit before dusk).
Stroll through the seafood and handloom markets near the seafront — see Uppada sari stalls and the fresh catch displays; grab a street snack like spicy fried fish or bajji.
For dinner pick a well-reviewed local eatery (budget hotel restaurant or popular family-run dhaba) and try a coastal fish curry or a vegetarian Andhra thali; ask locals for the most recommended place near your hotel.
Start early with a hearty breakfast — try pesarattu (green gram dosa) or idli-sambar at a popular tiffin centre near the market; these are filling and cheap, and many places open from about 6:30am.
Head to Coringa (mangrove forest) for a guided boat ride toward Hope Island to see mangrove habitat and birdlife — boats usually operate in the morning; sanctuary visiting hours generally ~6:00–16:00 but confirm locally. This is a highlight for nature and photography.
Return to Kakinada and have lunch at a local restaurant serving Andhra-style seafood or vegetarian thali — choose a place near the beach for views. Lunch is the best time to try regional specialties like prawn curry or gongura dishes.
Visit Uppada (short drive east of Kakinada) to see Uppada sari handlooms and the longer, quieter Uppada Beach; shops are typically open 10:00–18:00 and you can watch weaving and buy authentic Uppada sarees (bargain if you’re on a budget).
Sit by the shoreline at Uppada, a less-crowded beach known for long sands; swim only in safe marked areas and supervise conditions. Great spot for late afternoon photos.
Enjoy one last meal in Kakinada; pick a place known for coastal dishes (grilled fish, prawn curry) or a reliable multi-cuisine hotel restaurant if you prefer milder food. End with a walk on the beach.
Pack, confirm return transport (bus/train/flight) timings, and check out tomorrow as needed; if your return is late-night you can head to the station/airport as scheduled.
