Take an early morning flight to Delhi to maximise time heading north; book a budget carrier and carry warm layers for arriving into colder climes later.
Arrive early, drop luggage at a riverside or Old Manali guesthouse with a view — many properties will hold bags before official check‑in; winter rooms may have heating charges so confirm.
Visit Solang Valley for scenic views; in late November/early December you may find snow at higher spots and limited adventure ops — paragliding can be weather dependent and many operators pause in winter.
Check Rohtang Pass status online — in late Nov/early Dec Rohtang is usually closed due to snow. If closed, pick alternatives like Naggar Castle and Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery.
Visit Naggar Castle and the Roerich art gallery for culture and views — open mid‑morning to evening and an excellent winter alternative to high passes.
Take the local bus to Bhuntar and then a shared taxi or HRTC bus to Kasol; shared taxis are frequent and faster — the journey takes about 3–4 hours depending on road conditions.
Book a guesthouse on the Parvati river with a balcony for valley views — in winter request heated rooms or an extra blanket; book ahead for riverside rooms.
Cross the wooden bridge and walk to Chalal (20–40 minutes) — a short, scenic hamlet with cafés and river views; in winter the walk is peaceful but bring warm footwear.
Short taxi or bus to Manikaran to see the Gurudwara and hot springs; the Gurudwara is open daily and hot springs are particularly pleasant in cold weather.
Dinner at a Kasol cafe; note: Parvati Valley has a casual social scene but illegal substances are against Indian law — do not engage in illegal activity and avoid risky spots.
Have a substantial breakfast and check local conditions — in early December Kheerganga can be icy/snowy; consider Tosh or a lower-altitude walk if conditions look hazardous.
If weather permits, the Kheerganga trek (4–6 hours up) leads to hot springs; otherwise opt for the shorter Tosh walk (easier, scenic and less exposed to winter snow).
If you reach Kheerganga and conditions are OK, stay in a hut and enjoy the hot spring; otherwise return to Kasol for a warm guesthouse night. Facilities on Kheerganga are basic and cold in winter.
Some guesthouses host small bonfires—great for meeting travellers; check availability and ensure gatherings are organised by the property (not all places host in cold season).
Malana is culturally unique but access can be restricted in winter; if you prefer not to risk it, spend the day in Kullu or doing light sightseeing en route.
Take an afternoon/evening Volvo to Delhi; coaches take ~12–14 hours — plan an overnight in Delhi if needed before your train to Pune or prebook an onward train/flight.
On arrival in Delhi, board your prebooked train to Pune (book SL/3A/2A depending on budget). Aim to arrive in Pune by the 12th day as you planned — confirm train times and connections in advance.
