Bangalore: A Family-Friendly 2-Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Lalbagh Botanical Gardens
10 minutes (3.2 km) from Bangalore City Railway Station

Morning: Explore the serene Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. Spread over 240 acres, the park was commissioned by Hyder Ali in the 18th century and features over 1,000 species of plants, trees and flowers. Take a leisurely stroll through the gardens, marvel at the glasshouse, and learn about the history of the park at the Lalbagh House.

Afternoon: Visit the Bull Temple, located in the Basavanagudi area. Dedicated to Nandi, the sacred bull of Lord Shiva, this temple is famous for its colossal statue of Nandi. It is also said that the statue has been carved out of a single rock.

Evening: Go shopping at the Bangalore Central Mall, located nearby. The mall features an array of retail stores, as well as restaurants and a movie theater.

  2. Day 2: Wonderla Amusement Park
30 minutes (20 km) from the city centre

Morning: Start the day with a visit to Wonderla Amusement Park. With over 60 rides and attractions, the park has something for everyone in the family. Take a thrilling ride on the Recoil or the Insanity, or relax on the Lazy River. Children will love the Kiddie Pool and the Magic Mushroom.

Afternoon: After lunch at the park, visit the Bangalore Palace. Built in 1887, the palace is inspired by England's Windsor Castle. The palace features exquisite woodcarvings, paintings, and other artwork, as well as a beautiful lawn and gardens.

Evening: End the day with a visit to the Ulsoor Lake. Go boating or take a leisurely walk around the lake and enjoy the scenic beauty. The lake is surrounded by several restaurants and cafes, perfect for a family dinner.

Recommendations:

If you have more time, consider a visit to the Bannerghatta Biological Park, located on the outskirts of Bangalore. The park features a zoo, a butterfly park, and a safari park. Another great side trip option is the Nandi Hills, located about an hour's drive from Bangalore. The hills offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and you can also visit the Nandi Temple and the Tipu Sultan Fort. Make sure to maximize your fun by trying out some of the local food, such as dosa, idli, and vada. You can also take a walk along the Brigade Road or the Commercial Street for more shopping options.
