Start early to avoid city traffic and reach Jawai in daylight; the drive is scenic once you leave the plains. Expect highway driving with one or two short stops en route.
Check in and have lunch at your resort (recommended: The Serai, Jawai or a reputable resort/camp near Jawai Bandh) to relax before afternoon wildlife activities.
Jawai is famous for its population of leopards around the reservoir and very good birding (peacocks, migratory waterbirds). Book a jeep with the resort or a local naturalist; late afternoon is active time for wildlife.
Early morning is the best chance to spot leopards, foxes and many birds; safaris usually run at sunrise (approx 6:00–8:30am in November). Confirm pickup time with your camp.
Explore the famous 15th-century Ranakpur Jain temple (Adinath) noted for its marble architecture and 1,444 carved pillars; temple timings generally 6:00am–6:00pm so afternoon visiting is ideal.
Take a guided visit of the main Jain temple and smaller shrines to learn about the iconography and the craftsmen's carving techniques; guides can be hired near the temple entrance.
