Continue northwest through short plain stretches toward Krishnagiri; this leg has more traffic near towns so keep a relaxed pace and watch for junctions.
Longer highway run heading westwards into the approach roads of Hassan; road surfaces are good but expect town slowdowns around junctions and small villages.
Short walk around town or small market, try local filter coffee and snacks; easy evening to relax—Belur & Halebidu are best visited early next morning (temples open ~8:30am–5:30pm).
Visit the Hoysala masterpieces while they’re less crowded — temples open roughly 8:30am–5:30pm; allow 1–1.5 hours to admire carvings and take photos (bike parking available nearby).
Classic 350 enjoys the sweepers and short technical sections; Mullayanagiri offers panoramic ridgeline views—note the very final approach to the summit requires a short walk and is best in good daylight.
Guided short walk in nearby estate or a casual cafe visit for freshly roasted filter coffee and light Malnad snacks; many homestays organize short walks at dusk.
Start well before sunrise for the big day ahead — you'll descend the Western Ghats to the coast then begin the long return inland to Salem. Layers recommended (cool morning in ghats, warmer on coast).
Enjoy the ghat approach into Sakleshpur with good tarmac and early morning light — a short halt at Manjarabad Fort is a nice photo stop (fort open daytime ~8:00am, so exterior photos in early morning).
One of the most scenic ghats with dense rainforest and twisty roads. Ride at moderate speeds (40–55 km/h) and watch for wet patches, leaves and local traffic; perfect for rider enjoyment and photos.
Short walk to the viewpoint for panoramic views toward the coast (best in clear weather); accessible by bike to the parking area and brief on-foot stroll to outlook.
Enjoy coastal Karnataka cuisine: neeru dosa, fish curry (if you eat seafood) or traditional Udupi veg thali; many restaurants open through afternoon hours.
Maravanthe (if routing allows) is an iconic stretch where the road runs between the sea and river; Malpe Beach is the closest Udupi beach for a brief sandy walk — both are bike-accessible with safe parking.
Important: direct road distance from Udupi to Salem is long (road distance ~480 km). Plan a continuous long ride of 9–12 hours total including fuel and meal breaks if you intend to return in one push. This day will exceed the earlier 200–250 km/day guideline. If you prefer to stick to 200–250 km/day, split the return and add an overnight (recommended).
Route: Head inland from Udupi toward Kundapura then climb briefly toward Agumbe, connect to Sakleshpur (NH73/SH) and cross the ghats to reach Hassan; from Hassan take NH75/NH44 corridor toward Salem. Long highway and ghat segments, expect varied surfaces and town slowdowns.
This is a long, tiring day for a Classic 350 — ride only if comfortable doing long single-day distances. Consider shifting to an overnight stay at Hassan or Salem outskirts if fatigue sets in.
