3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary from Bengaluru to Ooty in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Ooty
    Approximately 285 km (6 hours) from Bengaluru
    Morning: Upon arrival, check into your hotel and freshen up. Head to the beautiful Rose Garden, spread over 10 acres and home to a wide variety of roses.
    Afternoon: Have lunch at one of the local restaurants and walk around the Ooty Lake, a serene and peaceful spot surrounded by eucalyptus trees. Enjoy boating or try fishing.
    Evening: Visit the Government Botanical Garden, spread over 55 acres and home to a variety of plants, shrubs, and trees. Kids will enjoy playing in the park here.
  2. Day 2: Coonoor
    Approximately 20 km (1 hour) from Ooty
    Morning: After breakfast, head to Coonoor and visit Sim’s Park. This park is home to a variety of exotic plants, including acacia, pine, and eucalyptus.
    Afternoon: Have lunch and head to the Dolphin's Nose viewpoint for a magnificent view of the Nilgiri Mountains and Catherine Falls.
    Evening: Enjoy some shopping at the local markets dealing in spices, tea, and handmade chocolates. Tea lovers can visit Highfield Tea Factory to learn about the tea-making process.
  3. Day 3: Departure from Ooty
    Morning: Visit the Ooty Botanical Garden, where you can see a variety of exotic plants, including ferns, orchids, and bonsai trees.
    Afternoon: Head to Doddabetta Peak, the highest peak in the Nilgiris. Enjoy the magnificent view from the top. Have lunch at one of the local restaurants.
    Evening: End the day with a visit to the Ooty Tribal Research Centre, which showcases the tribes of the Nilgiris. You can buy souvenirs made by the tribes here.

If you have more time, you can consider visiting the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, which is 35 km from Ooty and home to a variety of animals and birds.
