Start your day with a stroll around the Hampi Bazaar. You'll find plenty of shops and street vendors selling souvenirs, clothes, jewellery and food. Try some of the local delicacies like dal vada, mirchi bajji or the famous masala dosa for breakfast. Visit the Virupaksha Temple, the oldest temple in Hampi, situated at the end of the Bazaar. The temple's magnificent gopuram and intricate carvings will leave you in awe. Have lunch at the Mango Tree Restaurant, which is famous for its open-air seating and delicious vegetarian food. In the evening, head to the banks of Tungabhadra river to witness a beautiful sunset.
Start your day early with a 30-minute drive to Sanapur Lake for an exciting coracle ride. If you're lucky, you might even spot some crocodiles! After the ride, head to Anjanadri Hill, which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. The trek to the top takes around 2 hours, but the stunning views of the surrounding landscape are worth it. Have lunch at Laughing Buddha Cafe, which offers a variety of cuisines and a relaxed atmosphere. Spend the evening at the Hampi Rocks Cafe, which hosts live music performances and open mics.
Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many other historical monuments worth visiting, such as the Vittala Temple Complex, Hemakuta Hill and Lotus Mahal. You can also take a side trip to the nearby Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary, which is home to the Indian sloth bear. To maximize your fun, consider renting a bike or scooter to explore the city on your own. Lastly, don't forget to try some of the local drinks like toddy and sugarcane juice!
