4-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Spiti in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kaza
    From Chandigarh via NH5 - 430 km (approx. 12 hours)

    Begin your Spiti Valley adventure with a long drive from Chandigarh to Kaza. The journey takes you through scenic routes, picturesque valleys, and mountain passes, so be sure to have your camera ready. On the way, make a quick stop at Kalpa to witness the Kinnaur Kailash and get some stunning views of the peaks. Upon reaching Kaza, check-in to your hotel, rest and relax for the evening.

  2. Day 2: Hikkim, Komic, and Langza
    Approx. 50 km (1 hour) from Kaza

    Today's itinerary includes a visit to three of the highest villages in Asia. Start your morning with a stop at Hikkim, home to the world's highest post office. Send a postcard to your loved ones from this unique location. Next, head to Komic, known for its 1000-year-old monastery and pristine beauty. Lastly, stop at Langza, famous for its fossils and panoramic views of the valley. Return to your hotel in Kaza for the night.

  3. Day 3: Key Monastery, Kibber, and Chicham Bridge
    Approx. 20 km (40 minutes) from Kaza

    Visit the iconic Key Monastery, one of the largest and oldest monasteries in Spiti. Explore the beautiful complex, which houses ancient scriptures, murals, and paintings. Next, head to Kibber, one of the highest motorable villages in the world. Take a stroll through the village and admire the beautiful architecture and stunning landscapes. Stop at the Chicham Bridge to take in the breathtaking views before returning to your hotel in Kaza.

  4. Day 4: Pin Valley National Park and Mudh Village
    Approx. 60 km (2 hours) from Kaza

    Explore the Pin Valley National Park, home to a diverse species of flora and fauna, including the endangered Snow Leopard. Take a guided trek through the park and witness the stunning natural beauty. After the trek, head to Mudh village, one of the most beautiful villages in Spiti. Explore the village and interact with the friendly locals before heading back to Kaza for the night.

Recommendations

Make sure to carry warm clothing as the temperature drops significantly in the evenings. You can also explore other nearby attractions such as the Suraj Tal Lake, Dhankar Monastery, and the Tabo Monastery. Additionally, you may want to consider taking a small detour to the nearby town of Manali or Leh to add more adventure to your trip.
