Before dawn the group departs Bangalore to reach Nandi Hills (or an equivalent nearby sunrise viewpoint) in time to watch the sun climb over the misty escarpments; students will gather at Tipu’s Drop and the hilltop viewpoint for a short guided talk on local geology and the hill’s historical significance. After the sunrise, the class will enjoy a light, packed breakfast on the grass, followed by a gentle nature walk to Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple and surrounding trails where teachers can lead observational exercises in ecology and sketching native flora.
Return toward town for a hands-on visit to Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum or the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, where scheduled demonstrations and interactive exhibits reinforce concepts in physics and astronomy covered in class; students rotate through small-group activities and worksheets. Lunch is arranged at a nearby cafeteria or packed picnic at Cubbon Park, after which the group undertakes a structured team scavenger hunt around the park’s monuments and botanical sections to practice map-reading and collaborative problem solving.
As daylight fades, the class heads to Bangalore Palace or a community science center for a short cultural/history talk and reflective session where students share what they learned and complete a quick creative assignment (sketch, poem or poster). The day concludes with a relaxed return to school, maintaining continuity from the morning’s observations by assigning a follow-up homework project to expand on an individual’s chosen discovery from the day.
