Discover Meghalaya in December 2023

  1. Day 1: Shillong
    30 minutes (9.5 km) from Shillong Airport

    Start your day in the capital city of Meghalaya, Shillong. Visit the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, a museum showcasing the indigenous cultures of Northeast India. In the afternoon, head to the famous Elephant Falls, a three-tiered waterfall located in Upper Shillong. End your day at Ward's Lake, a popular spot for evening strolls and boating.

  2. Day 2: Cherrapunji
    2 hours 30 minutes (54 km) from Shillong

    Explore the wettest place on earth, Cherrapunji. Start with a visit to the Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India. After lunch, visit the Mawsmai Cave, a popular limestone cave. End your day with a visit to the Seven Sisters Falls, a group of seven waterfalls located in the vibrant green valleys of Cherrapunji.

  3. Day 3: Nongriat
    1 hour 30 minutes (28 km) from Cherrapunji

    Get ready for some adventure and hike to the famous double-decker root bridge in Nongriat. The hike can take around 3-4 hours, but the experience is worth it. After reaching the root bridge, cool off in the natural pools below. Spend your evening in Nongriat, taking in the scenic beauty and local culture.

  4. Day 4: Mawlynnong
    2 hours 30 minutes (82 km) from Nongriat

    Visit Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in Asia. Walk around the village and admire the beautiful gardens and quaint houses made of wood and bamboo. Visit the Sky View Point for a bird's eye view of the surrounding landscape. In the evening, head to Dawki, a small town located on the India-Bangladesh border, and take a boat ride on the crystal clear waters of the Umngot river.

  5. Day 5: Jowai
    2 hours 30 minutes (92 km) from Mawlynnong

    End your trip with a visit to Jowai, the cultural capital of Meghalaya. Visit the Kiang Nangbah Monument, a memorial to a Khasi freedom fighter. After lunch, visit the Tyrshi Falls, a beautiful waterfall located in the West Jaintia Hills district. End your trip with a visit to the Syntu Ksiar, a sacred grove that is also a popular picnic spot.
