Dandeli

Departure from Mangalore — River Rafting, Nature Activities & Evening Camp

Morning:

Board the tourist bus in Mangalore early (recommended 6:00 AM) and enjoy the scenic drive north along NH66 toward Dandeli, with a comfort stop en route; expect arrival around mid-morning at the Kali River rafting base near Supa. After a short safety briefing, the whole group will experience family-friendly rafting on the Kali River — a mix of gentle stretches and thrilling rapids — followed by warm tea and local snacks on the riverbank at the rafting camp.

Afternoon:

After lunch at a nearby farmhouse or resort (try local Malnad thali), spend the afternoon exploring Dandeli’s nature: a guided coracle ride on the tranquil stretches of the Kali River, birdwatching for hornbills and kingfishers, and a short nature trail through the dense evergreen forest toward the Kavala Caves viewpoint or Syntheri Rocks for striking granite formations. There’s time for a visit to Sykes Point for panoramic views and photos before returning to the camp to freshen up.

Evening:

As daylight fades, settle into the riverside camp for a relaxed evening program — enjoy a barbecue or cookout featuring local cuisine, interactive games for families, and a bonfire under the stars. A short night walk led by a naturalist or gentle stargazing rounds out the day, with everyone retiring to tents or the resort for overnight rest ahead of the morning wildlife/leisure plans and the return journey on the 14th.

Dandeli → Mangalore

Morning Wildlife/Leisure, Return Journey to Mangalore

Morning:

Wake to the sound of the Kali River and enjoy an early guided wildlife boat safari or birdwatching session near Supa backwaters and Kavala Point, where you may spot hornbills, kingfishers and otters while the forest comes alive. After the sunrise activity, return to camp or the resort for a hearty Malnad breakfast and a chance to pack, freshen up, and purchase local snacks or souvenirs before departure.

Afternoon:

Board the tourist bus mid-morning for a relaxed drive that includes a short stop at Syntheri Rocks or Sykes Point for last-minute photos and a brief stretch; those who prefer can opt for a quick visit to the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary reception to learn more about local conservation efforts. Enjoy a comfort lunch en route at a recommended highway restaurant serving Karnataka specialties, giving everyone time to swap highlights from the trip and rest on the way back to Mangalore.

Evening:

Arrive in Mangalore in the evening with memories of river rafting, coracle rides and forest trails, and plan a final group photo and quick debrief on the bus before dispersal; for late departures, suggest a casual dinner together at a familiar city restaurant to close out the trip. Make sure everyone has contact details for lost-and-found and transport organizers, and wish the group a safe journey home until the next adventure.
