2-Day Mahabalipuram Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Shore Temple and Mahabalipuram Beach
    5 minutes (0.6 km) from Mahabalipuram Bus Station

    In the morning, visit the Shore Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu and is known for its intricate carvings and beautiful architecture. Afternoon, head to the Mahabalipuram Beach for a relaxing time under the sun. Enjoy a dip in the sea or take a stroll along the shore. In the evening, catch a beautiful sunset while enjoying local snacks from the nearby food stalls.

  2. Day 2: Arjuna's Penance, Pancha Rathas and Krishna's Butterball
    6 minutes (0.8 km) from Mahabalipuram Beach

    Start your day by exploring the Arjuna's Penance, a massive rock carving that depicts the story of Arjuna from the Mahabharata. Afternoon, head to the Pancha Rathas, a group of five monolithic temples that are sculpted to resemble chariots. In the evening, visit the Krishna's Butterball, a large boulder that appears to be balancing on a slope, and take some fun pictures.
