Viewed by 84 travelers
Day 1 · Sat, Dec 13
Sakleshpur town and Manjarabad Fort

Arrival, Coffee Estate Tour & Sunset at Manjarabad Fort

Morning:

Arrive in Sakleshpur mid-morning and check into a charming homestay or plantation bungalow near town; drop your bags, freshen up, and enjoy a leisurely South Indian breakfast of piping hot filter coffee and neer dosa at the homestay. Head straight to a nearby coffee estate such as Shettihalli or Panduranga Coffee Estate for a guided plantation walk—learn about Arabica and Robusta cultivation, see coffee cherries being sorted, and sample freshly roasted beans while the mist lifts from the hills.

Afternoon:

After the estate tour, return to Sakleshpur town for a relaxed lunch at a local café (try Karavali or a homestyle thali) before visiting the historic Sakleshpur market to browse spices, homemade jams, and coffee souvenirs. In the early afternoon, drive up to the Hill View Point and take a short stroll through the surrounding trails to stretch your legs and enjoy panoramic views of the Western Ghats and the Hemavathi valley.

Evening:

Make your way to the star-shaped Manjarabad Fort in time for golden-hour light; explore the fort's unique architecture and terraces as the sun begins to sink behind the hills. Stay on the ramparts for a spectacular sunset, photograph the changing colours across the Ghats, then return to town for a cozy dinner—choose a local restaurant or your homestay’s kitchen for freshly prepared Malnad cuisine and a final cup of evening coffee.

Day 2 · Sun, Dec 14
Mullayanagiri / Bisle / Hebbe Falls area

Mullayanagiri/Betta Hike, Hebbe Falls Visit (or alternative), Return

Morning:

Wake early and drive from your Sakleshpur homestay toward the Baba Budangiri range for a crisp morning hike up Mullayanagiri (park at the base at Kemmangundi road). Enjoy the steep stone steps and prayer flags as you gain altitude, catch sweeping views over the Hemavathi valley and the mist-swirled peaks, and pause at the summit shrine to sip the strong filter coffee you packed from yesterday’s plantation tasting.

Afternoon:

After descending, head south toward Hebbe Falls via the private estate jeep track (or choose the scenic Bisle Viewpoint route if Hebbe access is closed) — the Hebbe route rewards you with a jungle drive and the thunderous twin-tiered cascade where you can cool off on the rocks and enjoy a picnic lunch by the pool. If you divert to Bisle, take the short trail to Bisle Viewpoint for rare, jagged gorge vistas and birdwatching, then stop in Kemmangundi or a roadside stall for fresh jackfruit or churumu coffee.

Evening:

Return to Sakleshpur in the late afternoon through winding tea and coffee estates, timing a relaxed stop at Manjarabad Fort if you want one last panoramic viewpoint before dusk; otherwise unwind at your homestay with a hot Malnad dinner and leftover estate-roasted beans. Swap stories with your hosts about the day’s hike and waterfalls, pack for departure tomorrow, and drift off to the rhythmic sounds of the Western Ghats.
