2-Day Mumbai City Experience Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gateway of India and Elephanta Caves
    15 minutes (2.9 km) from Colaba Causeway

    In the morning, head to the Gateway of India, a historic monument built in 1924 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai. Take a ferry from here to the Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on an island. Spend the afternoon exploring the ancient rock-cut temples and sculptures that date back to the 5th century. Return to the mainland by evening and indulge in some street food at the famous food stalls near the Gateway of India.

  2. Day 2: Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Marine Drive
    20 minutes (4.3 km) from Colaba Causeway

    Begin your day by visiting Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an iconic railway station that reflects Mumbai's Victorian Gothic architecture. Take a guided tour to understand its historic significance and architectural details. In the afternoon, stroll along Marine Drive, a scenic promenade that offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea. Enjoy the sunset while sipping on some coconut water or grab a quick bite at one of the many cafes and restaurants along the way. End your day with a visit to the nearby Girgaum Chowpatty beach.

Aside from the above itinerary, you can also consider visiting the following places: the Chor Bazaar, a famous flea market where you can find vintage items and antiques; the Nehru Science Centre, an interactive science museum perfect for families; and the Haji Ali Dargah, a mosque located in the middle of the Arabian Sea. For a side trip, you can visit Lonavala, a scenic hill station located a few hours away from Mumbai. To maximize your fun, try taking a local train or a bus to explore the city like a true Mumbaikar. Lastly, don't forget to try some of Mumbai's famous street food like vada pav, pav bhaji, and bhel puri.
