7-Day Itinerary for Gangtok, Lachen, Lachung and Zuluk in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    25 minutes (7.3 km) from Pakyong Airport

    Visit the Rumtek Monastery, which is one of the largest and most significant monasteries in Sikkim. Have lunch at the Golden Dragon Restaurant, famous for its Chinese cuisine. Stroll through the MG Marg, the main shopping center in Gangtok, in the evening.

  2. Day 2: Lachen
    5 hours 30 minutes (118 km) from Gangtok

    Visit the Seven Sisters Waterfalls en route to Lachen. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Chungthang. Reach Lachen and check-in to your hotel. In the evening, take a walk around Lachen monastery and visit the Lachen village.

  3. Day 3: Gurudongmar Lake and Lachung
    10 hours 40 minutes (167 km) from Lachen, 2 hours 25 minutes (47.5 km) from Gurudongmar Lake

    Start early morning to reach the beautiful Gurudongmar Lake, a sacred lake in Sikkim. After visiting the lake, have lunch in Lachen and proceed to Lachung. Check-in to your hotel and take a stroll around the Lachung Monastery in the evening.

  4. Day 4: Yumthang Valley
    1 hour 30 minutes (24.4 km) from Lachung

    Visit the Yumthang Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers, famous for its colorful blooms and hot springs. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Lachung and visit the Bhim Nala Waterfalls in the afternoon.

  5. Day 5: Zuluk
    5 hours 30 minutes (102 km) from Lachung

    Travel to Zuluk, a small village located on the historic Silk Route. En route, visit the Kabi Longstok, a historic site where the Lepchas and Bhutias signed a treaty. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Rongli. Check-in to your hotel in Zuluk and take a walk around the village in the evening.

  6. Day 6: Thambi View Point and Nathang Valley
    1 hour 30 minutes (27.7 km) from Zuluk, 2 hours 30 minutes (57.3 km) from Nathang Valley

    Visit the Thambi View Point, famous for its panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga range. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Kupup. Visit the Nathang Valley, also known as the Gnathang Valley, and its beautiful landscape. Return to Zuluk for dinner.

  7. Day 7: Gangtok
    5 hours (85 km) from Zuluk

    Return to Gangtok and indulge in some last-minute souvenir shopping at the MG Marg. Have lunch at a local restaurant and visit the Enchey Monastery in the afternoon. Spend the evening at leisure before departing for your next destination.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, consider visiting the Tsomgo Lake, a glacial lake located 40 km from Gangtok. You can also go for a short trek to the Dzongri and Goecha La, both famous trekking destinations in Sikkim. If you are interested in adventure activities, you can try paragliding, river rafting, and mountain biking in Gangtok.
