Viewed by 218 travelers
Day 1 · Tue, Dec 30
Khatu Shyamji (Sikar district)

Drive Delhi → Khatu Shyamji; Evening darshan & overnight

Morning:

Pack final items, check the car, and start after a light brunch — aim to leave Delhi by late morning so you’ll be relaxed for the 4-5 hour drive. Use this time to confirm hotel/check-in details in Khatu Shyamji and download offline maps; stop for tea at Rewari or Neemrana if you want a short break and local snacks.

Afternoon:

Begin the drive to Khatu Shyamji around 2:00 PM as planned; the route via NH48 → NH52 is straightforward and scenic through Rajasthan’s outskirts. Expect to arrive by early evening (depending on traffic); on arrival, freshen up and take a short walk around the town to get a feel for the pilgrimage atmosphere and local stalls selling prasad and traditional sweets.

Evening:

Attend the evening aarti and darshan at the Khatu Shyamji temple — the crowded, devotional atmosphere and the brass bells create a memorable first-night experience; the main temple is centrally located so you can easily join the queue for darshan. After darshan, enjoy a simple Rajasthani dinner at a nearby dhaba or your hotel, then rest — you’ll need energy for an early start the next day toward Salasar and Savariya Seth.

Day 2 · Wed, Dec 31
Savariya Seth / Chittorgarh area

Early darshan at Khatu Shyamji → Salasar Balaji → Reach Savariya Seth (near Chittorgarh) & local evening visit

Morning:

Wake early for the pre-dawn or first-shift darshan at Khatu Shyamji Temple so you beat the biggest crowds and experience the calmer, devotional atmosphere; after darshan, pick up prasadam from the temple stalls and have a quick breakfast nearby (local kachori-jalebi stalls are good for a fast, filling start). Load up and depart for Salasar Balaji (about 2.5-3 hours by road) aiming to arrive before the midday rush so you can visit the Garbha Griha and offer your prayers with less waiting.

Afternoon:

At Salasar Balaji, spend time at the main temple complex and explore the colourful bazaar selling temple offerings and sweets; plan for a short tea/lunch break at a local dhaba serving Rajasthani thali or simple meals. After lunch, continue the drive toward the Savariya Seth / Chittorgarh area (roughly 3-3.5 hours), using the route that skirts small towns to avoid backtracking; check into your Savariya Seth accommodation and freshen up on arrival.

Evening:

Take a relaxed evening stroll near your stay to absorb the local village and pilgrimage ambience, then visit nearby temples or shrines in the Savariya Seth locality for a quiet darshan before sunset. If time and light permit, drive a short distance toward the outskirts of Chittorgarh to view the silhouette of Chittorgarh Fort from a vantage point as it glows at dusk, return for a simple dinner and overnight rest ready for the next day's visit to the fort and Eklingji.

Day 3 · Thu, Jan 1
Nathdwara (near Udaipur/Chittorgarh region)

Visit Chittorgarh Fort & Eklingji; onward to Nathdwara for overnight stay and evening darshan

Morning:

Start early from Savariya Seth and drive to Chittorgarh Fort, arriving soon after sunrise to enjoy cooler air and fewer crowds. Explore the main citadel—Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower), Kirti Stambh, Rana Kumbha Palace and the Meera Temple—taking time to walk the ramparts for sweeping views of the plains and learn the fort’s heroic history through its museums and plaques.

Afternoon:

After a relaxed heritage lunch near the fort, head to Eklingji Temple (about 1-1.5 hours drive) to witness the important Shiva shrine complex and its calm courtyards; spend time seeing the ornate marble and stone carvings and, if available, catch a mid-afternoon aarti. From Eklingji, continue the drive to Nathdwara (approximately 45-60 minutes), arriving in time to check into your hotel and rest briefly before evening prayers.

Evening:

Attend the evening darshan and aarti at the Sri Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, where the intimate temple rituals and decorated deity create a memorable devotional experience; afterwards stroll the narrow bazaars around the temple to shop for Pichwai paintings, silver jewellery and local sweets. Finish the night with a quiet Rajasthani dinner at your guesthouse or a nearby restaurant, preparing for the long drive to Jaisalmer the next day.

Day 4 · Fri, Jan 2
Jaisalmer

Early travel to Jaisalmer (long drive); afternoon/evening explore Jaisalmer Fort & local bazaars; overnight in a desert camp

Morning:

Leave Nathdwara/Eklingji very early (around 4:00-5:00 AM) for the long drive to Jaisalmer so you arrive with daylight and have time to explore; expect 8-10 hours on the road depending on stops, so plan two quick tea/snack breaks en route (important towns: Pali → Barmer stretch). On arrival, check into a hotel or drop luggage at the camp’s city collection point, freshen up and head straight to Jaisalmer Fort to begin sightseeing while the light is still good for photos.

Afternoon:

Spend the afternoon wandering Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Quila) — visit the Jain temples, Raj Mahal museum, and the fort ramparts for panoramic views across the honey-coloured city; pop into the small Havelis inside and nearby (Patwon Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli) to admire carved facades and narrow lanes. Break for a late lunch at a rooftop café overlooking the fort (try local dal baati churma or a thali) then explore the bustling Sadar Bazaar and local textile/leather shops for souvenirs and block-printed fabrics.

Evening:

Head out in the late afternoon to your pre-booked desert camp (Sam Sand Dunes or Khuri, ~45-60 minutes from city depending on camp) to catch the sunset over the dunes; enjoy activities offered by the camp — camel safari at dusk, folk music/dance performances, and a traditional Rajasthani dinner under the stars. Relax around a bonfire before retiring to your tented accommodation (recommend a reasonable mid-range camp with attached washroom for comfort), ready for the drive to Jodhpur the next day.

Day 5 · Sat, Jan 3
Jodhpur → Delhi

Drive Jaisalmer → Jodhpur; visit Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Museum; return to Delhi (or overnight Jodhpur if preferred)

Morning:

Leave the Jaisalmer desert camp early (around 5:00-6:00 AM) for the 5-6 hour drive to Jodhpur, enjoying desert dawn colours on the way and stopping for tea at roadside dhabas to stretch. On arrival head straight to Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park at the base of Mehrangarh — walk the easy trails through restored rocky scrubland and learn about native plants and geology while getting your first sweeping views of the blue city and fort above.

Afternoon:

Climb or drive up to Mehrangarh Fort for a 1.5-2 hour visit, exploring the palaces, galleries (arms, paintings, costumes) and the fort ramparts for panoramic photos; consider the audio guide to bring the fort’s history to life. Descend to visit the nearby Umaid Bhawan Museum (check museum timings) to see the art, vintage cars and palace rooms; if you prefer a late lunch, choose a rooftop café in the Old City for views of Mehrangarh while you eat.

Evening:

If you plan to return to Delhi tonight, depart Jodhpur after an early evening drive (or take an overnight train/flight) — otherwise enjoy a relaxed walk through the blue lanes of the old town and shop for handicrafts and spices before a traditional Rajasthani dinner at a recommended mid-range restaurant. For an overnight option, stay in a heritage guesthouse near the clock tower to soak up Jodhpur’s night atmosphere and prepare for a comfortable morning departure back to Delhi.
