Day 1 · Sat, Jan 24
Jawai (Rajasthan)

Arrival and Jawai Leopard Safari + Evening Village/Heritage Walk

Morning:

Arrive at Jawai early in the morning and check in to your camp or heritage lodge—popular options include Jawai Leopard Camp or The Serai for comfortable safari-style accommodation. After freshening up, enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the verandah while soaking in panoramic views of the granite outcrops and the Jawai Bandh (reservoir), and meet your naturalist to brief you about local wildlife and the day’s safari plans.

Afternoon:

After lunch at the lodge, take a guided jeep safari into the sweeping scrublands and thorn forests around Jawai to start leopard tracking and spot other wildlife such as nilgai, chinkara, and roaming herds near the Jawai Bandh; your naturalist will explain tracking signs and leopard behavior. Pause for photography at the reservoir’s edge where migratory and resident waterbirds congregate—look for painted stork, flamingo and spot-billed pelican—and return to the camp for tea and a short rest.

Evening:

Head out for a sundown village and heritage walk in one of the nearby Rabari or local villages, visiting traditional homes, intricately painted havelis and meeting artisan families to learn about embroidery and folk life—this is an excellent chance to experience Jawai’s human culture up close. After the walk, enjoy a starlit dinner back at the lodge with stories from your guide about the day’s sightings and a preview of tomorrow’s early morning tracking session.

Full Day Jawai: Leopard Tracking, Birdwatching and Relaxed Lodge Time

Morning:

Rise before dawn for an early jeep safari led by your naturalist across the granite outcrops and along the Jawai Bandh shoreline, when leopards and other nocturnal wildlife are most active; enjoy hot chai as you watch for fresh pug marks, scent marks and possible sightings near popular ambush points like the marshy reed-beds. After a successful tracking session, return to your camp—Jawai Leopard Camp or The Serai—for a hearty breakfast on the verandah while swapping photos and notes with your guide.

Afternoon:

Spend a relaxed afternoon combining a slow birdwatching walk around the reservoir and nearby acacia scrub where painted storks, spot-billed pelicans, flamingos and raptors congregate, using hides at the water’s edge for close photography; your naturalist will point out ID tips and seasonal movements. Back at the lodge, enjoy a leisurely lunch followed by free time for a short siesta, a nature-read on the terrace, or a guided visit to a nearby Rabari homestead to learn about embroidery and local pastoral life.

Evening:

Head out for a second late-afternoon jeep outing focused on scanning ridgelines and waterholes—this golden-hour drive maximizes chances of watching leopards moving into hunting grounds and seeing nilgai and chinkara in silhouette against the setting sun. Return to camp for sundowners and a fireside dinner under Rajasthan’s clear skies, where your guide will recap sightings and suggest best spots for tomorrow’s transfer to Mount Abu.

Day 3 · Mon, Jan 26
Mount Abu (Rajasthan)

Transfer to Mount Abu: Nakki Lake, Sunset Viewpoint and Local Markets

Morning:

After breakfast at your Jawai lodge, check out and enjoy the scenic drive to Mount Abu (about 2-3 hours), watching the landscape shift from scrubby plains to the green, rocky hills of the Aravallis. On arrival, check in to your hotel or heritage haveli, then take a gentle walk around Nakki Lake where you can hire a rowboat or stroll the promenade and visit the nearby Raghunath Temple and the charming lakeside cafés.

Afternoon:

Have lunch at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the lake before exploring the nearby Toad Rock and the Governor’s Garden for panoramic views and a peaceful walk among flowering beds. Spend time visiting the ancient Achalgarh or Adhar Devi temples if you prefer an off-the-beaten path visit, or browse Mount Abu’s local markets (Mall Road) for miniature Rajasthani handicrafts, silver jewelry and Pashmina shawls.

Evening:

Head up to Sunset Point about 30 minutes before dusk to watch the sun sink behind the Aravalli ridges—a perfect spot for dramatic photos and a moment of calm after a day of travel. Return to town for dinner at a local restaurant sampling Rajasthani thali or traditional Gujarati-Rajasthani dishes, then wander Mall Road under lamplight before retiring to your hotel.

Day 4 · Tue, Jan 27
Mount Abu (Rajasthan)

Mount Abu Temples, Early Morning Viewpoints and Departure

Morning:

Start before dawn with a short drive to the Honeymoon Point or Guru Shikhar viewpoint for a crisp sunrise over the Aravallis, sipping hot chai as the valley below slowly lights up; afterwards visit the famous Dilwara Temples to admire the intricate marble carvings and learn about their 11th-13th century craftsmanship on a guided tour. Finish the morning with a peaceful stroll around Nakki Lake, perhaps hiring a rowboat for a calm vantage of the lakeside temples and promenades.

Afternoon:

Check out after a leisurely lakeside brunch, then explore the ancient Achalgarh fort and the nearby Adhar Devi cave-temple complex if time permits, enjoying panoramic hilltop views and the temple’s medieval architecture; alternatively spend a relaxed hour shopping on Mall Road for Pashmina shawls, silver jewelry and local sweets to take home. Gather your luggage back at the hotel and confirm onward transport — a scenic descent from Mount Abu into the plains will offer one last glimpse of the hill station’s rocky skyline.

Evening:

If your departure is later in the evening, enjoy a final early-dinner tasting a Rajasthani thali at a rooftop restaurant near Nakki Lake before heading to the bus/rail/airport transfer; otherwise, bid farewell as you depart, carrying memories of leopard sightings at Jawai and the cool, temple-dotted serenity of Mount Abu.
