3-Day Nature Itinerary in Ujjain in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Vedh Shala Observatory
    20 minutes (6.7 miles) from Ujjain Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, visit Vedh Shala Observatory, which was built in the 18th century and has various astronomical tools that were used to measure the distances between planets and stars. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, which is said to be the only temple where Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of a lingam. In the evening, explore the Ram Ghat on the Kshipra River, where devotees come to take a dip and perform rituals.

  2. Day 2: Kaliadeh Palace and Tapovan
    30 minutes (9.5 miles) from Vedh Shala Observatory

    In the morning, visit the Kaliadeh Palace, located on the banks of the Shipra River, which was once a pleasure resort of the Scindias. After that, head to Tapovan, which is believed to be the place where Lord Rama and Sita stayed during their exile. It is also said that the Vedas were written here. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and calmness of the place. In the evening, head to the Harsiddhi Temple, which is dedicated to the goddess Harsiddhi.

  3. Day 3: Mahakal Van and Jantar Mantar
    25 minutes (8.6 miles) from Kaliadeh Palace

    In the morning, visit the Mahakal Van, a nature park that has a variety of flora and fauna, including peacocks, monkeys, and deer. Enjoy a peaceful walk in the park. In the afternoon, head to Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory that was built in the 17th century. It has various instruments that were used to measure time, predict eclipses, and track stars. In the evening, you can visit the Mangalnath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be the birthplace of Mars.
