Day 1 · Fri, Dec 19
Mahabaleshwar

Drive from Pune to Mahabaleshwar — sightseeing & evening at Venna Lake

Morning:

Start early from Pune in your Mahindra 700 and take the scenic NH48 → Satara route, aiming to leave by 6:00-7:00 AM to avoid city traffic and enjoy cooler hill-drive conditions; stop for chai and breakfast at a highway dhaba near Katraj or Satara for fresh vada pav and filter coffee. Arrive in Mahabaleshwar mid-morning and begin with Elephant's Head Point and Arthur's Seat for panoramic valley views — these spots are great for photos and a short walk along the ridgeline.

Afternoon:

After viewpoints, head to Mapro Garden for a leisurely lunch of local strawberry-based dishes and a quick factory/store visit for preserves and shakes; follow this with a stroll through the bustling market to pick up local produce and leather goods. In the afternoon visit the historic Mahabaleshwar Temple and then go to Parsi Point and Kate's Point, enjoying sunset-tinged vistas and the cool breeze while exploring short trails between the cliffs.

Evening:

As daylight softens, settle by Venna Lake for boating (rowboat or paddleboat) and street-food snacks — try corn-on-cob, chaat and hot jalebis from the lakeside stalls while you watch the reflections on the water. Finish the evening with dinner at a cozy local restaurant near the lake or your hotel, sampling Malvani or Maharashtrian thali fare, then take a relaxed post-dinner walk along the promenade before turning in for the night.

Day 2 · Sat, Dec 20
Mahabaleshwar → Diveagar Beach → Pune

Optional morning viewpoints, detour to Diveagar Beach, return drive to Pune

Morning:

Wake up to a crisp hill-morning and squeeze in one or two quick viewpoints you may have missed — take in sunrise hues at Wilson Point (the highest in Mahabaleshwar) or revisit Arthur's Seat for a softer morning light and quieter photo opportunities. Pack light, grab breakfast at your hotel or a nearby stall (try a hot misal or fresh strawberry pancake), and be on the road by 8:30-9:00 AM if you plan the Diveagar detour so you have ample daylight for the coast.

Afternoon:

Drive down through scenic ghats toward the Konkan coast — the Mahabaleshwar to Diveagar run takes roughly 2.5-3 hours depending on stops — and arrive at Diveagar around midday to relax on the wide, sandy shore and walk to the iconic Suvarna Ganesh (Ganpati) temple built on a rock a bit offshore. Enjoy a seaside lunch at a local beach shack with fresh seafood (pomfret or prawns) or simple Konkani thalis, and if tides and time permit, try a brief swim or a tranquil beach stroll to spot traditional fishing boats and shorebirds.

Evening:

Begin the return drive to Pune in the late afternoon (aim to leave Diveagar by 4:00-5:00 PM) so you avoid very late-night fatigue; expect a 3-3.5 hour journey back to Pune depending on traffic, with a tea/refreshment stop en route in Shrivardhan/Poladpur stretch as needed. Once in Pune, celebrate the weekend with a light dinner in the city or drop your friends home — you've enjoyed hilltop vistas, strawberry treats, a peaceful lake evening, and a refreshing coastal detour all within a compact, memorable 2-day loop.
