Day 1 · Sat, Dec 27
Yaganti (Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh)

Yaganti Darshan and Temple Exploration

Morning:

Start your day with an early visit to the famous Yaganti Sri Sailam Temple complex — witness the sacred Nandi rock and the ancient cave sanctum while taking in the cool morning light on the red sandstone cliffs. After darshan, stroll to the nearby natural springs and the verdant platform above the gorge for panoramic views and a peaceful moment of photography before heading to a local eatery for traditional Andhra breakfast specialties like pesarattu and piping-hot filter coffee.

Afternoon:

After a relaxed breakfast, head to the historic Rudra Temple area and explore the lesser-known rock-cut shrines and nearby shrines of Mallikarjuna — don’t miss the ancient stepwell (kalyani) for atmospheric photos and a moment of quiet. Later, take a short drive to the scenic vantage at Konda Reddy Gutta for panoramic valley views, enjoy a packed lunch or local tiffin under the banyan trees, and stroll the village lanes to observe traditional crafts and meet local priests for insights into temple lore.

Evening:

As dusk falls, wander to the tranquil Papavinasanam step area and the riverside ghats to watch the sun sink behind the red cliffs while listening to evening bhajans from small local shrines; pause for a cup of chai at a village stall and chat with residents about seasonal festivals. Finish the day with a guided short walk to the nearby herbal groves—spot native medicinal plants and return to your guesthouse for a simple Andhra dinner of gongura pulusu and hot rotis under starlit skies.

Day 2 · Sun, Dec 28
Ahobilam (Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh)

Ahobilam Temples and Return to Hyderabad

Morning:

Rise early for a crisp mountain morning at Lower Ahobilam: begin with darshan at the central Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, then follow the scenic trail up the gorge to visit the Narasimha Swamy temples of Jwala and Malola, pausing at the forested viewpoints for sweeping canyon views and birdwatching. After exploring these hill shrines, refresh at a local tea stall with hot chai and millet-based snacks before starting the short drive to Upper Ahobilam to continue mid-day pilgrim visits and beat the crowds.

Afternoon:

After a morning of hill shrines, drive to the serene Lower Ahobilam village to visit the temple tank at Kalyana Mandapam and the modest but atmospheric Sri Chenchu Lakshmi shrine, then walk the shaded lane to the old bronze-smith quarter to watch local artisans at work and pick up a small brass souvenir. Later, enjoy a riverside picnic near the confluence by the Pedda Cheruvu, sample spicy local tamarind rice from a village stall, and prepare for the afternoon departure back toward Hyderabad with a short stop at a roadside viewpoint to photograph the gorge one last time.

Evening:

As the day cools, detour to the peaceful Navabrindavanam grove to perform a brief aarti and listen to local priests recount the hill-temple legends; the shaded stone benches there are perfect for reflection. Before the road back to Hyderabad, stop at the viewpoint near the Akkanna Maddi temple ruins to watch sunset over the gorge, pick up fresh mango pickles and roasted peanuts from a village stall, and settle into the car for a comfortable evening drive home.
