Day 1 · Fri, Jan 10
Nagarjunasagar

Start: Drive out from Hyderabad to Nagarjunasagar / Picnic and sightseeing

Morning:

Leave Hyderabad early and head straight to Nagarjuna Sagar Dam for sunrise views of the reservoir and the towering dam walls; park at the viewpoints, walk along the promenade, and soak in photo ops before the crowds arrive. After that, head to Ethipothala Falls for a short nature walk and a refreshing misty break, then set up a relaxed picnic near the fall's viewing area with local snacks and chai while enjoying birds and the cool morning air.

Afternoon:

After a relaxed picnic and misty morning at Ethipothala Falls, spend the afternoon exploring the historical side of the reservoir with a guided tour of Nagarjunakonda Archaeological Museum and island ruins-walk among Buddhist stupas, monastic remains and interpretive displays that bring the Satavahana era to life. Finish with a serene boat ride on the reservoir from the Nagarjunakonda jetty, watching waterbirds and snapping sunset-tinged photos of the submerged temple terraces before returning to your base for dinner.

Evening:

As dusk falls, head to the peaceful shoreline near Mallepally Bay for a gentle lakeside stroll and birdwatching-look for egrets and darters as the sky deepens. Follow this with a cozy riverside dinner at the open-air Srisaila Viewpoint Café, sampling local Andhra specialties while lanterns and reservoir lights shimmer on the water, then finish with a short, guided night-walk to Kondapalli Rock Outcrop to spot nocturnal wildlife and enjoy star reflections over the dam.

Day 2 · Sat, Jan 11
Nagarjunasagar → Hyderabad (en route stops)

Explore Nagarjunasagar / Return toward Hyderabad with short stops

Morning:

Start the morning with a calm walk through the terraced gardens and lily ponds of Nagarjunasagar Botanical Park, spotting resident kingfishers and watching fishermen launch for the day; grab fresh filter coffee from the park kiosk and enjoy lakeside views before crowds form. Next, drive a short distance to Anupu Heritage Village to wander narrow lanes, visit a restored traditional homestead and sample homemade millet dosas at a family-run eatery, then board an early guided coracle trip from the Ameenpur Jetty to scan for river otters and waterfowl as you begin the return leg toward Hyderabad.

Afternoon:

Head inland from the reservoir to explore the hilltop ruins at Bhongir Fort-climb the gently terraced path for panoramic views of the floodplains, inspect ancient granaries and watch for resident raptors circling the crags. Later, stop at the lively roadside hamlet of Gurramkonda Bazaar to sample hot mirchi bajji and sugarcane juice, pick up handmade terracotta keepsakes from local artisans, and stretch your legs before continuing the drive back toward Hyderabad with refreshed snacks and new stories.

Evening:

As the afternoon drive toward Hyderabad winds down, pause for golden-hour photos and a short trail walk around Somasila Hill Viewpoint, where low cliffs overlook patchwork farmland and you can watch local farmers finish their day. Continue with a relaxed stop at Mallepalli Village Tea Stall to sample roadside chai and freshly made ragi pakoras while chatting with villagers, then end the evening with a peaceful riverside dinner at Nidravathi Riverside Eatery, savoring spicy tamarind fish curry and watching village lights blink on as you head back toward the city.
