4-Day Foodie Itinerary for Goa in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Spice Plantations
    45 minutes (14 miles) from Goa Airport

    Begin your foodie adventure at the Spice Plantations in Ponda, where you can witness the cultivation of Indian spices while enjoying a guided tour. In the morning, savour a cup of masala chai while exploring the farm. For lunch, relish a traditional Goan thali meal. In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk and learn more about the spices available before indulging in some shopping. Finally, end the day with a relaxing Ayurvedic massage.

  2. Day 2: Assagao Farmers Market
    30 minutes (8.5 miles) from Spice Plantations

    Wake up early to visit the Assagao Farmers Market, where you can explore the local cuisine and purchase fresh produce. Try the popular Goan breakfast dish of poi pao and bhaji or the sweet bebinca. After lunch, head to the nearby beaches for some relaxation and enjoy the sunset views with cocktails and seafood by the beach shacks.

  3. Day 3: Mapusa Market
    15 minutes (3.5 miles) from Assagao Farmers Market

    Visit the Mapusa Market in North Goa, the oldest and the most popular market place in Goa. The market offers an array of traditional Goan cuisine, from fish curry to xacuti. Take a walk around the market and try the famous Goan pork sausage, chouriço, and pick up some handmade souvenirs. Later, head to Vagator beach to catch the sunset view while having a delicious seafood dinner by the beach.

  4. Day 4: Panjim
    20 minutes (7.5 miles) from Mapusa Market

    End the trip in Panjim, the capital city of Goa, famous for its Portuguese architecture. Enjoy a cup of coffee at the iconic Cafe Real, and visit the colorful houses of Fontainhas. For lunch, head to Ritz Classic, one of the oldest restaurants in Panjim, and order their famous fish thali. In the evening, visit the Miramar beach, which is famous for its street food. Gorge on Goan beef cutlets, chorizos, and Goan fish curry rice.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, visit the Dudhsagar Waterfalls located 60 km from Panjim. Go for a Spice Plantation tour at Sahakari Spice Farm in Ponda. You can also take a cycling tour around Divar Island. If you are an adventure lover, try your hand at kayaking or paddleboarding in the backwaters of Goa.

Maximize your fun by renting a scooter or a car. This will allow you to cover more places in lesser time. Don't forget to try Feni, a local Goan drink made from cashews or coconut.
