Day 1 · Sat, Jan 10
Yana Caves / Murdeshwar

Sanquleim → Yana Caves → Murdeshwar (Scenic drive and sightseeing)

Morning:

Depart Sanquleim at 4:30 AM and enjoy the pre-dawn coastal drive en route to Yana Caves, arriving mid-morning to hike the short trail to the twin black limestone monoliths and explore the peaceful Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary edge; pause at the viewpoint for sweeping jungle-and-rock panoramas. After the cave visit, stop at a local dhaba for a hearty Konkani breakfast of neer dosa and spicy coconut chutney before continuing toward Murdeshwar with a quick photo break at the scenic riverside hamlet near Yellapura Road.

Afternoon:

After a relaxed lunch, drive toward the coast and stop to stretch at Unchalli Falls viewpoint for a short walk and dramatic river gorge views before continuing; the route offers a pleasant mix of spice plantations and mangrove-fringed estuaries. Arrive in Murdeshwar mid-afternoon to climb the steps around the towering Murudeshwar Temple Gopura, stroll the seaside promenade, and catch golden-hour light on the giant Shiva statue while sampling fresh seafood at a nearby beachside café.

Evening:

As dusk settles, head to Netrani Viewpoint for a tranquil sunset over the Arabian Sea, then stroll the palm-lined Bhatkala Beachfront to watch local fishermen bring in their evening catch. Afterward, enjoy a relaxed waterside dinner at Gokarna Seafood Café, sampling grilled pomfret and kokum sharbat while listening to the soft surf before retiring to your Murdeshwar accommodation.

Day 2 · Sun, Jan 11
Udupi / Sanquleim

Murdeshwar → Udupi → Return to Sanquleim (Coastal temples and drive back)

Morning:

Depart Murdeshwar after an early breakfast and drive south to Kundapura, where you can stretch your legs with a riverside walk along the Seetha River Promenade and watch traditional boats at the jetty; pop into Kodavooru Temple for a glimpse of local temple architecture and morning rituals. Continue toward Udupi with a short detour to Malpe Beach for a breezy stroll and a quick boat ride to St. Mary's Island (weather permitting), returning to Udupi by late morning to savor authentic Udupi masala dosa at a famed local eatery before heading inland for the journey back to Sanquleim.

Afternoon:

After a leisurely coastal lunch, head to Kudlekantha Lighthouse for panoramic views of the shoreline and a crisp sea breeze, then stop at Manipal End Point Park for a short walk through landscaped gardens and a coffee break with a view. Continue to Kaup Fort to explore the centuries-old sea-facing ramparts and the famous dilapidated lighthouse before winding down the drive inland, timing a final chai-and-snack pause at a roadside stall near Hebri to break up the journey back to Sanquleim.

Evening:

After exploring Udupi, take the coastal road toward the inland route and pause at Kudlu Falls Viewpoint for a short creekside stroll and the soothing sound of cascading water as twilight approaches. Continue with a stop at the charming riverside village of Padebettu to enjoy a homestyle Konkani dinner at a local eatery, where you can sample freshly steamed fish curry and rava fried fish while swapping road-trip stories with locals, then settle into a relaxed drive back to Sanquleim timed to arrive before your 9:00 PM deadline.
