Four-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Goa in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Beaches of North Goa
    1 hour 10 minutes (27.2 km) from Goa International Airport

    In the morning, head to the famous Calangute Beach, one of the largest and most popular beaches in North Goa. Take a dip in the sea or go for a parasailing adventure. Enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the many shacks on the beach. Spend the afternoon at Anjuna Beach, known for its vibrant flea market and water sports. End the day at Baga Beach, where you can enjoy a relaxing sunset and a seafood dinner.

  2. Day 2: Visit the Temples and Churches of Old Goa
    1 hour (22.4 km) from Baga Beach

    Start your morning with a visit to the Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia, known for its Portuguese-Gothic architecture and beautiful bell tower. Next, head to the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest churches in Goa, where you can see the remains of St. Francis Xavier. For lunch, head to Martin's Corner, a local favourite for traditional Goan cuisine. In the afternoon, visit the Shri Manguesh Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the Shri Mahalakshmi Temple, dedicated to the goddess of wealth. End the day with a relaxing walk around the Fontainhas neighbourhood, known for its colourful Portuguese-style houses.

  3. Day 3: Visit the Spice Plantations and Waterfalls of South Goa
    1 hour 30 minutes (60.3 km) from Fontainhas

    In the morning, visit the Sahakari Spice Farm, where you can learn about the various spices and herbs used in Goan cuisine and take a guided tour of the plantation. Enjoy a traditional Goan lunch at the farm. In the afternoon, head to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India, where you can take a dip in the refreshing pools and enjoy the scenic views. End the day with a visit to the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, a famous landmark in Panaji, and enjoy the panoramic views of the city from the nearby hilltop.

  4. Day 4: Explore the Forts and Museums of Goa
    45 minutes (15.1 km) from Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church

    Start your morning with a visit to the Aguada Fort, a 17th-century fort overlooking the Arabian Sea, and take a guided tour of the lighthouse and the prison cells. Next, head to the Museum of Christian Art, housed in the Convent of Santa Monica, and see the collection of Christian art and artefacts from the Portuguese era. For lunch, head to Venite, a local favourite for its burgers and steaks. In the afternoon, visit the Reis Magos Fort, a 16th-century fort that now houses a cultural centre and art gallery. End the day with a relaxing sunset boat ride on the Mandovi River.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, located on the western tip of Chorao Island, and take a guided tour of the mangrove forests and wetlands. You can also take a day trip to the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the southernmost part of Goa, and go on a nature walk to spot birds, butterflies, and other animals. To maximize your fun, try water sports like jet skiing, banana boat rides, and kayaking at the various beaches in Goa. And don't forget to try the local seafood, especially the fish curry and rice, and the signature drink feni, made from cashew or coconut.
