Kerala Nature Escape in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Munnar
    3 hours 15 minutes (85.7 miles) from Cochin International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Rajamalai Wildlife Sanctuary to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and hike to the Anamudi Peak for breathtaking views. In the afternoon, take a scenic drive to the Mattupetty Dam and enjoy a boat ride on the tranquil lake. In the evening, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history of tea and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea.

  2. Day 2: Thekkady
    2 hours 30 minutes (68.5 miles) from Munnar

    In the morning, take a guided nature walk in the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and spot some of the almost 300 species of birds. In the afternoon, go for a thrilling bamboo rafting experience on the Periyar River and keep an eye out for the wildlife on the banks. In the evening, attend a cultural performance at the Mudra Cultural Centre.

  3. Day 3: Alleppey
    3 hours 30 minutes (94.5 miles) from Thekkady

    In the morning, take a leisurely cruise on a houseboat through the backwaters of Alleppey and enjoy the views of paddy fields and coconut groves. In the afternoon, visit the Marari Beach and relax on the golden sands or go for a swim in the Arabian Sea. In the evening, enjoy a sunset dinner at a beachside restaurant.

  4. Day 4: Wayanad
    4 hours 30 minutes (130 miles) from Alleppey

    In the morning, visit the Edakkal Caves and explore the ancient inscriptions and rock formations. In the afternoon, visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and take a jeep safari to spot elephants, tigers, and leopards. In the evening, relax and unwind at the Soochipara Falls and enjoy the scenic beauty of the waterfalls and surrounding greenery.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Athirappilly Waterfalls, Vagamon, or the Silent Valley National Park. For a side trip, you can take a day trip to Coorg in Karnataka.
