5-Day Adventure Itinerary for Oman in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Muscat
    30 minutes (13.5 miles) from Muscat International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, and admire its intricate architecture and beautiful gardens. In the afternoon, head to the Muttrah Souq, a traditional Omani market with a vast array of spices, textiles, and souvenirs. In the evening, take a stroll along the Muttrah Corniche and enjoy the view of the Al Jalali Fort.

  2. Day 2: Wahiba Sands
    2 hours (118 miles) from Muscat

    Head to the Wahiba Sands desert and experience dune bashing, sandboarding, and camel riding. In the afternoon, visit a Bedouin camp and learn about their culture and way of life. Spend the evening stargazing in the desert.

  3. Day 3: Nizwa Fort and Jebel Akhdar

    Visit the beautiful Wadi Shab and hike through its turquoise waters and stunning rock formations. In the afternoon, take a boat trip to see the dolphins in the Gulf of Oman. In the evening, relax and enjoy the sunset at a beachside restaurant.

  5. Day 5: Musandam
    4 hours 10 minutes (231 miles) from Wadi Shab

    Take a day trip to Musandam, a stunning peninsula with crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views. Enjoy a dhow cruise and explore the fjords, swim in the sea and snorkel to see the colorful marine life. In the evening, head back to Muscat.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the ancient city of Salalah, the historic town of Sur, and the stunning Al Hoota Cave. For a side trip, head to the beautiful coastal town of Ras Al Jinz and watch the turtles nesting.
