2-Day Adventure Itinerary for Guwahati in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kamakhya Temple
    10 minutes (3.8 km) from Guwahati Railway Station

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most famous and important pilgrimage sites of Assam. Dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, the temple complex is spread over several acres and features several smaller shrines. Don't forget to take in the stunning views of the Brahmaputra River from the temple complex.
    Afternoon: After your visit to the temple, head to the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Guwahati. This sanctuary is home to the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, as well as various other species of animals and birds. Enjoy a thrilling jeep safari through the sanctuary.
    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Umananda Temple, situated on the Peacock Island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. Take a ferry ride to the island and witness the evening aarti at the temple.

  2. Day 2: Deepor Beel Wildlife Sanctuary
    20 minutes (10.5 km) from Hotel Dynasty

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Deepor Beel Wildlife Sanctuary, located on the outskirts of Guwahati. This sanctuary is a haven for birdwatchers with over 120 species of birds found here. Go on a guided bird-watching tour and spot some rare and exotic species.
    Afternoon: After your bird-watching tour, head to the Basistha Ashram, approximately a 30-minute drive from the sanctuary. This ashram is located in a serene and peaceful environment and is the perfect place to unwind and relax.
    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, situated in the heart of Guwahati. This zoo is home to several species of animals, birds, and reptiles, including the white tiger. Take a guided tour and learn about the conservation efforts being undertaken at the zoo.
