3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Orissa in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Lingaraj Temple
    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Bhubaneswar Airport

    Morning: Start your 3-day trip with a visit to Lingaraj Temple, a magnificent Hindu temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva. This ancient temple dates back to the 11th century and is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Orissa.     Morning: Explore the beauty of Chilika Lake, Asia's largest saltwater lagoon, and home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Take a boat ride to the lake's various islands, including the Honeymoon Island and Breakfast Island. Afternoon: Visit the famous Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and admire the intricate architecture and carvings. Evening: Drive back to Bhubaneswar and indulge in some local delicacies at the famous Lingaraj Lassi Corner.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves near Bhubaneswar that date back to the 2nd century BCE. The Nandankanan Zoological Park is a great place to take your kids to see a wide variety of animals and enjoy a picnic. If you're interested in textiles, visit the famous Boyanika Handicrafts Emporium in Bhubaneswar to purchase handwoven sarees, fabrics, and other textiles.
